He will leave lor El Paso wkn his family about May 30th.' tV (fV cv There was much gratification in local mining circles during the week over the sudden skyward I move of silver, as a result of which the market jj showed renewed activity. The advance in the white metal, however, did not cause the rise in local stocks which was naturally anticipated. With the exception of Daly-West, there was scarcely nny perceptible elevation in stocks. Still the outlook Is healthy and the market next week will probably show more life than it has during the past several months. & & & !The Daly-West declared another regular dividend divi-dend of 60 cents per Bnttve during the week, the total dividend aggregating ?100,000. This will make the total payments to stockholders for this year reach the robust aggregate of $540,000. The JPortland-Park Mining company has been organized with a capitalization of $200,000, the shares being of a par value of ?1. The incorporators incorpor-ators are confident that they have some rich property. The directors and officers are: M. C. Harrington, president; Joseph H. Steele, vice ft president; Morris Sommer, secretary; A. H. I Fuelling, treasurer; these, with J. V. Murphy and M. L. Garity, of Park City, and William Wirthlin of Eureka. ,t- r & & & I A. H. Holden, managing director of the Unit- cd States Mining company, arri- ed in H13 oily early in the week from the East. He found the 1 mines and smelters of the company in flourishing i condition, and fro present ai-r earances, the 1 investors in these extensive holdings will soon 1 be rewarded by some large sized dividends. I 5 tt ot 1 Actiye operations will be resumed shortly I at the Gem Con. mines in the Coeur d'Alenes, I according to statements made by David M. Hy- 1 man, manager of the properties. When the Gem 1 closed down last fall 200 men were employed in I the mine. 1 v?.? c5 1 Recent advices from the New York-Tonopah' I properties indicate that everything in that sec- I tion Is in very promising shape. Fine gold and 1 silver bearing quartz was encountered during the I week at a depth of from GOO to 700 feet, and the 1 management expect to strike the main ledge In 1 the near future, as the face of the drift has en- I tered porphyry of the same nature as that on- I countered near the big ore bodies of other mines 1 in that vicinity. I & $ & I Lowor Mammoth furnished the sensation of 1 the week on the exchange by jumping to a high 1 water mark over the dollar sign. The rapid rise I in this stock Js attributed to an important strike I recently reported.' Confidence in this stock re- mains unabated 'and indications are that the rise was not a mere temporary fluctuation, but that it will hold its own at the advanced figure. |
