Show pnmunca uuvjs By Earl Roe 676-2376 wearlroeyahoo.com Always the optomist, I keep thinking that if I wait until the last minute I will get some news by phone, mail, or e-mail. It never happens. Even the weather weath-er is so constant that the only thing worth mentioning is the temperature difference between the North side of my home (62 degrees) and that at the Triple C Arena (82 degrees)? A couple of days ago I received an email from Max Excell telling me that a former Panguitch resident, Dixie (Davis) Alder and her husband Lee are both serving missions in Cardiff, Wales. Dixie is the youngest daughter of Chris and Wanda Davis (deceased) who operated a meat market and cold storage lockers in Panguitch for many years. Dixie's niece lives in Shoshone where Max lives and I imagine she received the letter and let Max read it. According to the letter, the two missionaries are enjoying their time in Wales. Max is planning on retiring this summer after serving many years as a teacher, coach, and chairman of the High School Athletic Association. He is looking look-ing forward to being able to spend more time in Panguitch. Max is the son of Hilma Excell, one of our longest longtime residents. res-idents. I received a nice letter from Kathy Forbes who lived at Bryce Woodlands for about 14 years and last year, moved into , Hatch. She has enjoyed reading , the Garfield Ciunty News all ; these years. Since moving i always , entails some sorting through boxes of stuff that has accumulated over the years because it seemed worth saving at the time, Kathy was at this task and ran across a Burma Shave puzzle published in 1981 in the the game section of some magazine. She thought of my column so she sent the puzzle to me. It consists of 40 phrases ' from Burma Shave slogans (all mixed up) which the reader is challenged to put in the proper order. It's too large to publish, but if any senior readers want to try their memory, , of .Burma ' Shave slogans, I will' be glad to send them a copy. Monte and Cleo Marshall had Panguitch From Page 2A a surprise visit recently by Kammy (Egan) Thompson, her husband Graham, and their two, sons who decided to stop and see some of their Panguitch relatives rel-atives while on their way home to Monroe, Wash. Kathy is the granddaughter of Monte and Evalyn's sister Mildred. Evalyn and Marilyn and Steven Marshall were able to visit with Kammy, Graham and the boys during their short visit, but I was at my pasture and missed out. (This next news is for men only, the women already know it.) Ten reasons why the Lord created Eve! 10. He knew that Adam would be lost in the Garden of Eden because he wouldn't ask for directions. 9. He knew that someday Adam would need someone to hand him the TV remote. (Parenthetically, it has been noted that men do not want to see what's ON TV; they want to see WHAT ELSE is on.) 8. He knew that Adam would never make a doctor's appointment. appoint-ment. 7. He knew that when Adam's fig leaf wore out, he would never buy himself a new one. 6. He knew that Adam would not remember to take out the garbage. 5. He wanted man to be fruitful, fruit-ful, but knew that Adam would never be able to handle labor pains and childbirth. 4. As "keeper of the garden", Adam would need help in finding find-ing his tools. 3. Adam needed someone to blame for the "Apple Incident", and for anything else that was really his fault. 2. As the Bible says: "It's not good for man to be alone". and Number 1. He stepped back, looked at Adam and declared: "I can do better than that."
