Show Utah's Largest Farm, Ranch Organizations Oppose Initiative 1 Utah's largest farm and ranch organizations join together to oppose Initiative 1 and set the record straight on what they agree are false advertising claims that farmers support the initiative at a press conference set for Friday, Oct. 22 in Salt Lake City at noon .at the Department of Agriculture and Food located at 350 North Redwood Road. . I At the press conference, they will dispute what they see as false claims made by Utahns for Clean Air, Clean Water and Quality Growth and the Nature Conservancy that Initiative 1 lis supported by Utah farmers and ranchers. The five organizations Utah Farm Bureau Federation, Utah Wool Growers Association, Utah Cattlemen's Association, Utah Dairymen's Association, and Utah Farmers Union represent most, if not all, of Utah's farmers and ranchers, and they all emphatically oppose Initiative 1. The leaders of each organiza-' organiza-' tion will offer background on the Initiative and explain why their membership is encouraging encourag-ing citizens to vote NO on Nov. 2. A joint statement by the organizations will also be released, explaining that although farmers and ranchers want clean air, water and quality growth just like all citizens, Initiative 1 is not the way to accomplish it. The presidents of the five largest farm and ranch organizations organiza-tions will be on hand for interviews, inter-views, questions and comments about the negative impacts of Initiative 1. .
