Show GS&HMUG MVS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 . marlenehcolor-country.net Halloween has come and gone. The election is over. Now we can begin to think about Thanksgiving and Christmas. The way the weather weath-er has been it may be a good idea to get the lights up while we still have a few warm days. Tom and Marilyn Jackson have been home delivering their Christmas sacks of potatoes. Their sons, Clint and Wayne, came home for the deer hunt. Wayne only stayed a day or two then had to go back to work. Clint got his deer and stayed for a full week, before returning to Portland, Ore. He did go to Elko, Nev. with Tom and Marilyn for the funeral of Silvia Jackson, the wife of Tom's brother, Kevin. They just got back from that funeral and learned that Tom's cousin, Brendon Hatch, 34, St. George , had passed away. Our condolences. condo-lences. Carlyle Shurtz had his son, Randy, and grandson, Tyler, here for the hunt. They got their deer as well. Florence Alvey's children visited her last weekend. Rick and Helen Pruitt and two children chil-dren came from Richfield and Lucinda Duncan and two children chil-dren came from Cedar City. Florence really appreciated their help in getting everything winterized win-terized and enjoyed their visit. Tina Allred was here with two of her daughters last weekend. week-end. They used to live here but hadn't been back for 10 years. I think they live in Nebraska now. They seemed really glad to see everybody and it was good to see them again. They stayed with Butch and Rene Olson. Brent and Patrice Cottam had daughters, Elisa, and Shondell and husband Reggie Gillins, Cedar City, here fot the weekend. week-end. Elisa came home to trick or treat with Devyn and Shaylynn Sorensen of Salina and to celebrate her birthday. Stanley and Marlene Stowe have been to Hawaii again. I don't know why they are building build-ing on to their house. I think Marlene would like to retire and go to Hawaii to live! She had surgery after they got back home, but is doing well. Family and friends of Natalie Cottam, Lora Engberg and Janiece Liston accompanied them to the St. George LDS Temple last Friday for their very first time. Congratulations to all three! When Daryl and : Mary Shumway and Cal and Martha Schow were on their trip back East, they ran into David Ray Shurtz, who is president of the LDS Temple in Detroit, Michigan. He was really excited excit-ed to see them and they had a nice visit. All the temple workers work-ers knew that he was from Escalante and is proud of his heritage. Another Escalante "boy" who still remembers his home town affectionately. Isaiah Cowles and Heather Nez came to visit Donald (See ESCALANTE on pg. 4) Escalante From Page 3A Cowles recently and to show off their new, baby boy, Jason Alexander Cowles. Jason was born in Tuba City, Ariz, on Oct. 10, and weighed in at 5 lbs. and 12 oz. Donald was excited to have them here. Lewis and Jean Griffin were here from Provo over the weekend. week-end. It is getting cold so I guess they wanted to do a little more winterizing. Thelma Cottam is spending a few days in the Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch. She has infection in her leg. We hope she can come home soon. Congratulations to Bill Weppner who is our new school board member. And thanks to Marc McLemore for the time and effort he put in while he held that position. Patrick Diehl and Victoria Woodard have sold their home here and moved away. Gwendolyn Zeta bought their house. |
