Show mopic nnws By Vicki D. Syrett 679-8687 vickidiane36hotmail.com Helma Haas had her sister, Maxine Crosby of Panguitch stay with her a few days. Maxine was recovering from two falls in one day. She suffered suf-fered two black eyes, badly scraped knees, was sore and bruised all over, ' and had scratches on her forehead and nose. She fell once and went to the hospital and then when she left and came home, she fell again. Helma was glad to be able to help her sister out. We all wish her well and a speedy recovery ' Elaine Haas reports that her son Greg Leech is doing well at Fort Benning, but is feeling a bit homesick. She is excited that he will be able to come home for Christmas. Irene Emmett called to say that while Esther is her second name she is known better as . Irene and her husband likes to be called Bert. I reported them as Albert and Esther Emmett. Sorry folks. They operate the "Mimi's Candy Shop" at Doug's. We are still glad they are staying here this winter. Irene reports that her mother Mary Ott is feeling poorly right, now and is staying with her daughter Marilyn Murdock in St. George. Wallace Ott went down to stay with Mary while she is recovering and taking care of doctor visits. We are hopeful that Mary will soon be feeling better and be able to return home to Tropic. Jacque Slack is spending her days in Richfield with her daughter Khristine Slack Ebell and her two sons. Khristine just had an adorable baby daughter, born on the Nov. 15. They named her Audrey Fonda Ebell and she weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces and has lots and lots of dark hair. Jacque will be bringing bring-ing the family home with her for the Thanksgiving holiday celebrations. cele-brations. Jacque is pretty excited about the new baby and like all grandmothers is delighted to be around her. Chase Pollock had his LDS missionary farewell and it was well attended. Chase is the son of Gordon and Sharon Pollock of Tropic. His brothers Lenny and Lance and sister Lindsey were also there and took part in the program. There were many family members and friends who traveled to give Chase a great send-off to the mission field. He is going to Rapid City, So. Dakota. In attendance were: grandmother Erma Wintch of Tropic, Valerie and Don Grimmer of Orem, Wesley Dean and Natalie Wintch of West Jordan, Lauren Swan of St. George, Brent Hughes of Cedar City, Justin Don Grimmer of Cedar City, Lesa and Greg Pollock of Tropic and daughters Kayla and Megan who sang a beautiful song for their cousin. Also attending were Merv and Lorna Barnhurst from Hatch and their children David, Brent, Leslie, La Faun, and married daughter Jolyn Smith and her husband Tim. Rob and Lorie Veater from Panguitch brought their sons, David and Derrick. Leland and Michelle Pollock of Panguitch and children Derick, Tyler, and Shelby, and Kyle and Marie Barnson from Delta with Jentrie, Delaney, and Quincey their children were also there. It was a very nice program and we know that Chase will make a fine missionary and his sense of humor will be a great help to him. Dusty Ahlstrom, son of John and Lori Ahlstrom of Tropic, was ordained a deacon in the LDS church. It was a special day for him, so his grandparents, Weldon and Marie Porter came from Escalante along with, La Verne and Monte Willis of La Verkin, and Dirk and Eva Durfey and children from Escalante and everyone joined together for dinner and congratulations. congrat-ulations. Carl and Mary Miller Boyd are the proud grandparents of a beautiful new granddaughter. The parents are John and Lisa Cheshire of Lexington, Kentucky. John is the son of Carl and Mary Miller. The new little girl was named Allyson Renee Cheshire. She came early but is doing well and was born on the Oct. 16, weighing 8 pounds 13 ounces. The Boyds left on the Oct. 15 to spend two weeks and on the next day the baby came. . She has an older sister, Madaline who is 3-12 years old. They picked up their grandson, Carl Thomas and he was with them during their stay in Lexington. It was so good to see Betty and Kent Wintch at LDS church. It seems that they have had to stay pretty close to home these days. Betty is trying to recuperate recuper-ate from being ill and Kent has stayed faithfully by her side helping her out. |
