Show 'Journalistic Nonsense', He Says There are those among us - who look for the darkest cloud - in the bright skies over this I beautiful place we call home '. and one of them is. Ton i Thayer. ; That she has written numerous ' articles for the Garfield County News that never answer ques- tions but only raise them, and - offer no clear opinion but mere - conjecture has been barely toler-' toler-' able except for the pure enter-'. enter-'. tainment value. Until now. Now ; she covers her journalistic non-' non-' sense with a letter to the editor ' (Garfield County News, Nov. 6 "Who's really running Highway 12?") in place of what is normally nor-mally supported by your editori-' editori-' al staff in order to launch a per-. per-. sonal attack on Allysia Angus. Ms. Thayer, if your intentions were to damage the reputation 4 of an upstanding individual of ' the highest integrity I must say ; you have indeed failed. Allysia 1 Angus, the Secretary and Treasurer of the Scenic Byway : 12 Committee, is a non-voting I member who was elected to her ! post by other members of the committee. Since you have i never attended one of our com- . mittee meetings I must assume that your preference is to conduct con-duct research with your dark filters fil-ters for information and ignore the truth. Allysia Angus did an outstanding job during the Byway Corridor Management Plan development and continues her exceptional work as Secretary and Treasurer of the Scenic Byway 12 Committee today. Her personal interests are well in line with the interests of the committee or I suggest that she would be spending her valuable valu-able time doing other things. If your intentions were to ask pertinent questions, seeking valid answers, then why did you choose a libelous format for your work? Just reply to one of Allysia's e-mails and ask her your questions directly! That you are included on her distribution distribu-tion for e-mail messages regarding regard-ing the committee's work tells me she has nothing to hide. That you have published what you believe you "overheard" constitutes consti-tutes negligence on your part. What exactly are your intentions Toni? As for your further conjecture that the Scenic Byway 12 (See LETTERS on page 3A) Letters To The Editor From Page 2A Committee is "led and organized organ-ized by the Federal government's govern-ment's GSENM employees", you are simply wrong. The committee is comprised of a good balance of representatives including UDOT, Wayne and Garfield Counties, State Parks, Bryce Canyon National Park, GSENM, Dixie National Forest, the towns on Highway 12, businesses busi-nesses on the highway and citizens citi-zens at large. Any one partner, organization or individual does not control the balance of influence influ-ence on the highway or on the Highway 12 Committee. We have accomplished a lot so far and we have momentum enough to continue our terrific progress. Our meetings are open and the public is encouraged to attend. In fact the next meeting is going to be held in Escalante on November 25th. The committee meets regularly regu-larly and offers a forum where a variety of interests are represented repre-sented and dialog is valued and encouraged. I believe that your effectiveness as a journalist would increase if you were to include dialog of this type in your research. By becoming involved, you would have an opportunity to influence the outcomes out-comes directly and become a (See LETTERS on page 5A) Letter From Page 3A less negative person. Or do you prefer to continue your destructive destruc-tive methods, choosing to look at things negatively and working to influence others to see things the same way? If so I suggest you begin your research into a reply to this letter so that you may effectively defame me as well. John Holland,Chairman, Scenic Byway 12 Committee Tropic |
