Show I CAtltlOttVlUE NEWS , By Marva Fletcher 679-8521 Don and Louise Mangum enjoyed a camping trip on the mountain with their son, David Mathews and his family of St. George. John and Charlotte Mathews joined them one evening for a Dutch oven dinner. din-ner. Don and Louise and family members Clifford and Collette Mathews; Ben and Diana Mathews and son, Trevor, went to St. George and attended the LDS Sacrament meeting where their son, David Mathews was ordained a Bishop in the Sage Creek LDS Ward. That's pretty special, David. We're proud of you. A beautiful program of "Music in the Church" was presented pre-sented on Sunday. A number of favorite hymns were sung by the congregation under the direction of Choir Director Anita Fletcher and Choir President Rae Hughes. Bea Reynolds was called and sustained as Ward Magazine Director with Evelyn Heaton as her assistant. Mira Loy Ott was sustained as Assistant Teacher of the Gospel Doctrine class in Sunday School. Gloria Clark went to Salt Lake City with Fred and Tonya Syrett for an appointment at the heart clinic. Afterward, they joined Deene Baugh and her daughters Brooke and Candace; also Melanie Ott, Nancy Chynoweth and her daughter-in-law, Cassie Chynoweth and Gloria's sister, Darlene. They all attended "Phantom of the Opera" and really enjoyed the performance. Visiting Arnell and Iris Burr and attending the graduation exercises were David and Josh Burr of Roy; Jessica Burr, who is attending school at Southern Utah University and Pamela Dahl of Durango, Colo. David returned home to work for a week and then came back to spend another week with his parents here and daughter, Jessica in Cedar City. John and Ramona Morreale, Charlene Moss and Sylvanna Leslie went to eastern Utah on a short vacation-. They traveled from Boulder, down the Burr Trail to Bullfrog Marina,' spent half a day on the lake seeing the beautiful scenery and then took the ferry to Hall's Crossing. They followed Hwy 276 to Natural Bridges National Park for a day, then up through Blanding to Monticello to do a session in the LDS temple there. They went on to Moab; Arches and Capitol Reef National Park for a day, over Boulder mountain moun-tain and home. It was a most enjoyable trip. The heat was bad so they advise others to make the trip in April or May and maybe take a month for it. Visiting Alma and Anita Fletcher are daughter Stephanie Scott and children Jakob and Cailyn of Mesa, Ariz. Also daughter, Erica Racker and sons, David and Michael of St. George. Barbara Lutes Larsen and children, Joselyne and Camilon of Elsinore are here visiting grandparents George and Ada Thompson. Joe and Rae Hughes' went to a Mathews Family Reunion in Price. They also attended a wedding in Parowan. Diane Fletcher of Tempe, Ariz, and Gail Fletcher of Provo came to visit their parents, Larry and Glenna Fletcher and help them prepare for the wedding of Bryce Fletcher to Kimberly Schiers in the Mt. Timpanogos LDS Temple. Jeff Stock took daughter Shelby to Cedar City on the 16th to celebrate her 12th birthday. birth-day. A very full 10 days were enjoyed by A.C. and Rita '. Hammer as they flew to Laurel, MD for the baptism of grandson Joseph Conner, son of Sid and Melody Conner. Following a short visit with the Conners and their seven children, the trip continued to Lancaster, PA for a visit with daughter, Carol and Brett Poole and family. While there it was interesting to mingle min-gle with the Amish people and appreciate the peacefulness of the area. Returning to Washington, D.C. they bypassed the Reagan viewing for more time with family. The new experience of being bumped from a very early flight out of BWJ resulted in having to go through Phoenix to get to El Paso for the wedding of son, Jacob Hammer to Devon Kuykendall. The wedding, at the home of Devon's parents, Randy and Margo Kuyendall, was lovely and the reception in the backyard truly memorable. A family from Samoa presented a program of Polynesian song and dance as a wedding gift to the newlyweds. The wedding brought all of the Hammer's seven children together for the first time in several years and it was a joyous reunion. It's always fun to go but always so good to be home! Larry and Glenna Fletcher had all of their eight living children chil-dren and other family members at the Mt. Timpanogas LDS Temple for the wedding of their son Bryce to Kimberly Schiers on Friday, June 18. A lovely reception was held at Parker, Ida., on Saturday evening. Father's Day was spent in Jerome, Ida., with their son Leon and friends at his LDS ward. They were happy to see old friends Sherrill and Mary Davis at church and visited with them. Also there for the special day were John and Ramona Morreale, Tamra Moss and Raphael Morreale, and Robert Fletcher came from Florida. A special treat was in store for members of the Cannonville LDS Ward when members heard three generations of the Chynoweth family speak. The first speaker was Klinton Chynoweth, then high Council representative Ralph Chynoweth who called his son Klyn out of the congregation to speak, with Ralph the concluding conclud-ing speaker. Family members in attendance were Klyn's wife Nancy and their other sons Kytlin, Colby, and Olsen who are attending college in Salt Lake City and came home to spend Fathers Days; Kaden and Korde. Klinton's wife Cassie also came. Vacationing visitors to the Cannonville Ward were Mike and Erin Perry and their daughters daugh-ters Danielle and Alicia of Roy. Visiting Evelyn Heaton for the weekend were her son Donald and his children Amber and Joe of Kanab. On Sunday her son Chris and family came from Enoch ' and on Tuesday grandson Larry Jr., stopped for lunch. Larry lives in Orderville and is working in'Henrieville. Bea Reynolds went ' to Panguitch with her daughter Susan where 'she visited there with her granddaughter Melissa and great-grandson Bryant MayneS of Provo. Her daughter Elaine brought her home on Wednesday. Jim and Erma Clarke attended attend-ed their great-granddaughter's Angela Salas' high school graduation grad-uation on June 4 in Layton. Then they went to Las Vegas to attend a Court of Honor for their grandson Christopher Clarke who received his Eagle Scout award. On June 13, they attended the wedding of their oldest granddaughter Jessica Salas' to William DeLew of Tooele at the Jordan River LDS Temple All of their children came for the wedding so they held a family reunion at the Layton Park Sunday afternoon and on Monday toured LDS Temple Square and saw "The Testament" at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. They ended by touring the LDS Conference Center including the roof top gardens. Arthur and Nannette Clarke and family of Las Vegas visited them for the Fathers Day weekend and also Patrick and Cindy Clarke and their family of Pueblo, Colo.. They spent Saturday at Bryce Canyon. On Monday they were pleasantly surprised by a visit from Gary and Margaret Sharpe of Baton Rouge, La., who were here touring the area and attending attend-ing a family reunion in the northern part of the state. They and some friends they made while serving a mission in Baton Rouge. Lace Walker who has been walking with crutches after breaking her leg has learned, after a visit to the doctor, that she will soon be walking without with-out them. Lace has had a long hard struggle and we're excited with her to hear the good news. Nina Willden and her daughter daugh-ter Leona Lukes of Forest Grove, Ore., came to visit Nina's sister Arma Stock and her family. A family dinner was held at the home of Gerald and Dawn Stock to celebrate Shelby Stock's birthday which they all enjoyed. Nina and Leona also visited their cousin Ramona Morreale. Marty and Ethel Rich, Shantel Manning and Jon and Brandi Webster attended a convention con-vention this past week in Nashville, Tenn., and didn't spend all their time convention-ing, convention-ing, I'm sure, because Marty said he saw some of the Good Old Cowboys and they were able to attend the Grand Old Opry. What a fun way to spend a short week! |
