Show UTAH butah HAS COLONIES OF BEES REPORT INDICATES INDICATE S utah upholds in fact its symbol symbolical ical emblem ot of the bee hive and supports large healthy ap apiaries laries this is depleted deplot ed in the biennial report submitted by D H milman hillman state inspector ol of apiaries to commissioner harden brennion of 0 the state slate department of agriculture approximately colones rol 0 bees are maintained in the state proa pro an average ot of about 70 pounds pound a bt bf surplus honey per colony or more than pounds annually practically all ot of these colonies are inspected annually for foul brood which it allowed to gain headway would soon wipe out the apiaries mr air hillman declared the costs of these hess ins inspections aggregate about five cents per colony I 1 i utah Is one of the very few states with less than two per cent of american foul brood infecting its ap apiaries laries hillman due to the efficient work of the county bee inspectors the foul brood is kept well under cottrol and there has not been an out break of much I 1 conse consequence during the past two years the records will show a decrease each year in the number of diseased colonies honey production this year will tall fall short ot of the normal average and it is estimated that only about 65 pounds per colony will be gathered in 1925 1 there were recorded some colonies in the state an increase of 52 per cent since 1919 du addition some 13 car loads of oe bees were shipped into utah in 1925 and eight in 1326 1026 |
