Show i ' By Mamie Talbot . 676-8084 The irrigation water has been shut off so we no longer have to feel guilty when we see dry spots on the lawns. We hope for lots of snow this winter to replenish the water in Panguitch Lake and the Sevier River. It's time to drain and store the water hoses and open the irrigation lines to drain. Very few birds are still around, and the elk and deer hunts are in progress. The quakies between Panguitch Pan-guitch Lake and Cedar Breaks are absolutely gorgeous. See them before be-fore the colors all disappear. Panguitch Stake speakers at the LDS 2nd Ward were Susan Chris-tensen Chris-tensen who discussed self-worth and what the touch of the Master's hand can do, and Clark Howard who brought the stake presidency's message "Get Out Of Debt". They were very timely talks. The choir sang a special number. Kristin Hu-ber Hu-ber was sustained as food specialist and Nan Singleton was called as a Cub Scout leader. Marlene Miller Lewis is here visiting her mother Lyle Miller who lives in the care center. Harold and Winona Sevy went to Provo to be present at the banquet when their son Ken Sevy was presented with Scouting's coveted "Silver Beaver" award. CM. and Jolene Smith, Barry and Arlene Davenport, and Chris and Erica Smith went to Nephi to see brother and uncle Ken Sevy ordain his son Ben an elder. Rick and Tina Miner have a beautiful new log home near the Randy Hatch farm. They will move into it next month. Many family members were here for the graveside services for Myra Mifler. It was good to see friends and relatives that we haven't seen for a while. Our love and sympathy go to the family. Mack and Pat Oetting have gone to Europe for a month of sightseeing. sight-seeing. A house belonging to Dennis Brayton is being built at the end of River Lane. The Donald Talbots came from Washington State to visit with his mother Freda Talbot who lives in the care center. His sisters Mela-dine Mela-dine .and Arda and brother Doug were also here. Donald's wife Jean-nie Jean-nie visited in Circleville with family fam-ily members there. Karen T. Williams came from South Jordan to visit overnight with his mom Mamie Talbot and sister Barbara Talbot. She enjoyed being home, away from the rush and traffic of the city. She attended church, renewed friendships, and rode around town to see the changes since her last trip home. Karen's son David and his wife Connie and their children Sierra and Caleb came from Orem and stayed for a day, seeing Bryce Canyon and "real live deer". They went on to Las Vegas to attend a conference connected with David's work. In the LDS 4th Ward, Kent Osborn was sustained as financial clerk and DeAnn Gillies as ward librarian. Stake speakers were Kar-la Kar-la Owens and Tim Westwood. Youth speakers were Sheena Blais and Chelsea Birch. Paul Hathcock has been in town tuning pianos. The Hathcocks moved to Ogden where he is teaching music at Weber State University. Melita Schaffer died at the care center where she had been living for some time. Our love and condolences condolen-ces go to the family. Members of the Utah Heritage Foundation came from the north with horses and wagons. They stopped on town and the Lions Club food committee fixed supper for them at the city park. Earnest Blessing, husband of Rhea Ipson Blessing, was buried with graveside services in Panguitch. Pan-guitch. Rhea is a daughter of the late Parley Ipsons of Panguitch. (See PANGUITCH on page 3-A) PANGUITCH From Page 2-A Dr. Todd Mooney's, Norman Mooney, died at his home in Orcm following a battle with cancer. Our sympathy goes to the family. Native Tom Daly died in Wyoming. Wyo-ming. He was raised by his grandparents grand-parents James and Frances Daly in Panguitch. He was buried in Cedar City. In the LDS 1st Ward, several young men were ordained elders: Garrett Owens, son of David and Lorraine Owens; Seth Decker, son of Joe and Lorena Decker; Nathan Cooper, son of Than and Gaylene Cooper; Byron Howard, son of Clark and Flora Howard; and Chad Boshell, son of Evan and Ruth Bo-shell. Bo-shell. Justin Cooper, son of Than and Gaylene Cooper, was ordained a priest. Rachel Riggs, daughter of John and Tina Riggs, was married to Justin Brown on Sept. 2. They are living in the Loris Chidester home. Afton and Ilene Julander celebrated cele-brated their 60th wedding anniversary anniver-sary and Afton's 80th birthday with their children, Neil, Dick, Dale, and Marlene J. Miller. Paul Morgan, son of Afton and Marilyn Foy Morgan, was married to Teresa Ann Bauer on Sept. 1. He is a grandson of Vee and Mary Foy. George and Vickie Whiting and family went to Laranie, Wyo., for the wedding of their daughter Holly. Verna Holman Owens and her daughters attended her mother Arvil-la Arvil-la Boothe Holman's reunion. Seven Sev-en of Arvilla's brothers and sisters are still living. The former Donna Cowles, her husband and children, are living with her step-father Wes hall. La Vera Henrie Tobler and three of her children visited with her aunt Mary Henrie. LaVenda Moore spent a few days in St. George with Margene Moore. The Joe Deckers had daughters Laressa and Marci, their husbands and children here for a visit. The Brinkerhoff brothers, Ryan, Lloyd, Chad, Nathan, and Elliot, and the Dale Orton families met at their parents' home for a weekend of visiting, eating and playing. Paul Woodard broke his neck and was taken to a Salt Lake City hospital. He and Cathy are home now and he is getting around a little. Gerald Talbot, son of Tom and Maxine Talbot of Koosharem, aand grandson of Norma Talbot, is working in the Garfield County School District. He and his family will make their home in Tropic. Kay Richards was recently sustained as bishop in his Salt Lake City ward. He is a son of the late Frank and Ingra Richards. Mary Ann Black Adams has been here visiting with her parents Alden and Mary Black. Mary Ann's husband Don is a stake president. They live near her sister Kay Lynn Roundy in Nebraska. Paul and Judy Loomis have purchased the Ted Walker home from Lamont and Linda Bardwell Olson. Paul and Lamont are Army friends. The Hepworth three-day reunion was held in Orderville. Attending from here were Romell and Betty Hepworth, Chuck and Lorene Hep-worth, Hep-worth, and Grant and Avonell Tebbs and families. Doyle Peterson and daughter Sheila and her two children spent a few days visiting with Eva Marshall. CM. Smith had surgery at a Salt Lake City hospital. Jennie Hatch, daughter of David and LaVera Henrie Hatch, reported her LDS mission in her Cedar City ward. She is a granddaughter of Mary Henrie of Panguitch. Caryl Hatch Englestead and her daughters will fly to Caryl's home- (See PANGUITCH on page 6-A) PANGUITCH From Page 3-A town Hampton, N.Y., for a week of visiting some of Caryl's family and the places of her childhood. Linda Mrkvicka was honored at a surprise birthday party at the home of Verl and Donna Chidester. There were about 45 guests present. She said it was the only real birthday birth-day party she ever had. Mary Foy has been in the hospital. hos-pital. She's home now and recovering recov-ering well. Don Sandberg, son of Rex and Grace Sanderg, is with the National Guard in Georgia. His oldest son has just received an LDS mission call to Australia. Lamar and Pat Macklin have sold their home and moved to Cedar City. Lyman Hatch, a classmate of Ray Englestead, visited with him and attended a family reunion in our area. |
