Show Environmentalist Activists Victims OfVandalism ESCALANTE The Escalante home at 285 West 200 North and a vehicle belonging to environmentalist environmen-talist activists Tori Woodard and Patrick Diehl were vandalized in the early morning hours of Sept. 3. Police Chief Dennis Isheim said Tuesday that the couple heard the noise at 1:30 a.m. but did not find the damage until morning when the crime was reported. A rock was thrown through the window on the driver's side of the couple's Toyota pickup and through the driver's side plastic window of the pickup's shell. A rock was also thrown at the front door of the residence, breaking a window in the screen door. "It is an open case, still under investigation," said Isheim, "but we have no clues." "This kind of behavior only strengthens our resolve," said Diehl. He and Woodard, because of their openly environmentalist activities acti-vities that include an anti-grazing position have not been popular newcomers to this conservative ranching community. Their residence resi-dence has also been vandalized in fte past. |
