Show Mustangs-Bobcats In Big Showdown By John Yardley Bryce Valley boys defeated Piute 52-41 last week, while Panguitch got by Wayne 68-44, setting up a big game in Panguitch this week. BV trails the Bobcats by one game as Panguitch leads the league at 6-2, with the Mustangs at 6-3. Bryce Valley defeated the Bobcats on their home turf earlier in the season. Levi Lefevre led Bryce Valley with 17 in the win over Piute, while the Bobcats had three players in double figures in their comeback win over Wayne. Tyler Barney scored 22, Scott Barney 15 and Joel Walter 10 for the Bobcats who outscored Wayne 19-3 in the third quarter. The Barney boys combined for all 19 points. Bryce Valley needs a win to move into a tie for the lead. Panguitch has another tough game as they travel to Escalante to meet the 4-4 Moquis. That game can be heard on KLGL radio at 7:00 on Friday night. In girls play, Panguitch leads Region 15 into the region tournament tour-nament this week in Orderville. Panguitch defeated Escalante by a wide margin last week behind the Sawyer sisters, Hailee 20 and Jenna 10. Ashley Carter scored 10 for the Moquis. Panguitch also wiped out Piute as JennaSawyer played her last home game dropping 24 points on the T-Birds. Haileescored 11. Escalante's girls led Milford 20-17 at the half, but lost 42-31. Ashley Carter again scored in double figures with 10, with Kate Griffin shooting in 10 points as well. Bryce Valley's girls lost to second place Wayne 58-29. Leading scorers for the Mustangs were Kali Pollock and Christina Cantu with 7 points each. |
