Show I Area Obituaries 1 Blake Robinson ESCALANTE, Utah -Harold Blake Robinson, 92, of Escalante, Utah, passed away Dec. 5, 2002, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law Ben and Renee Porter in Provo, Utah. Blake was born Jan. 24, 1910, in Sugar City, Ida., to Dennison Harris and Gladys Cordelia Blake Robinson. He married Mary Gurena DeLange July 18, 1930, in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death June 12, 1985. Blake spent his early married life in Junction, Utah, where he farmed and raised sheep. He later moved his family to Escalante, Utah, where he was a cattleman, businessman and owner and manager of Valley Finance Company. He was involved in training and running thoroughbred horses throughout his life in the states of California, Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and Arizona. On his 90th birthday he was honored at the Turf Paradise race track in Phoenix, Arizona, as the oldest horse trainer in the United States. Blake was civic-minded and participated with the Elks and Lions Clubs. He was the secretary secre-tary of the Utah Horse Racing Association. He is survived by his children, chil-dren, Renee (Ben) Porter of Provo; triplets, Blake D. (Cora Lee) Robinson of West Valley City, Rhoda (Joseph) Allen of Orem, Juana, deceased (Kay) Staples of Richfield; Ruth (Matland) Baugh of Tropic, Beth (Bruce) Jacobson of i :v''--. : , .Am- J I1 X - j Blake Robinson Concord, North Carolina; 19 grandchildren 54 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; half-sister, Barbara (Frank) Walker; half-brother, and LeBaron (Carol Ann) Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gurena; daughter, Juana Staples; daughter-in-law, Kathy Winder Robinson; granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, Traci Allen; great-grandson, Ryan Johnson; brothers and sisters, sis-ters, Elwin (Vadis) Robinson, Beth (Jay) Applegate, Lynn (Daphne) Robinson; and half sister, Denna (Alfred) Davidson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante LDS Stake Center, where friends may call Saturday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Escalante Cemetery.
