Show USCALAtm NEWS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 marlenehcolor-country.net Well, are you all ready for the little round man in the red suit who has a white beard? And do you have a smoking chimney or a non smoking chimney? Better give that some consideration! We finally got our outside Christmas lights up the other day. After it was all done my husband (Klyn Haws) stood back and said, "It looks like Cedar Mountain." When I asked him what that meant he said, "Three green trees in a dead forest." (He takes all credit cred-it for the dead trees in our yard!) Lee and Kathleen Williams are home from Hanford,Calif. They spent Thanksgiving there with their children, the family of daughter Jolene and husband Duen Mallard. Pat and Bobbi Coughlin and family visited Pat's brothers and families in Seattle, Wash., for Thanksgiving. Peon Alvey spent a few days in Loa and St. George with her daughter, Janeen Duncan. Janeen has been very ill following follow-ing complications from some dental procedures. Hopefully she will soon be on the mend. Dave, Raylene and Jessica Whitefield, Las Vegas, Nev., visited Arnold and Deon Alvey. They took Justin Whitefield back home with them. Justin came here with his grandparents after Thanksgiving and had a very good time while he was here. Maybe you saw Jessica giving her grandparents a ride or two while she was here. She's at that age when teenagers enter into the world of "driving!" Relatives here received word of the death of Emmet Harrison, Twin Falls, Ida. Emmet is the husband of former Vida Lyman, who is a sister to Millie Mclnelly. I thought some of you older folks would like to know. Tom and Marilyn Jackson are "on the road again." Tom has never been off the road, but he came back this week and picked Marilyn up for some more traveling trav-eling on the truck. They will attend the LDS church Christmas program in the Convention center in Salt Lake City with their son Wayne and family this weekend. Mary, Eldon and Angie Griffin went to Richfield to get their Christmas shopping done last week. Mary also had an appointment with her optometrist. She said they ran into former Escalante resident Elmo Procell and had a good visit with him. He lives in Elsinore, says he will soon be 90 years old. But Mary says he is a young looking 90 and seems to be doing well. Helen Shurtz had a visit from her son and daughter-in-law last weekend. David and Bonnie Shurtz, Auburn Hills, Mich., flew to Las Vegas and came on to Escalante by car. Their son Dan and friend Amy, of Salt Lake City, also came down to spend time with his folks and grandmother. They also visited with David's sister, Susan Shurtz. Stan and Jan Liston came up from St. George to keep an appointment with Stan's doctor in Panguitch. When they got there they kept Stan in the hospital hos-pital for a few days. Hopefully he will be back home by the time you read this. All the relatives from around here went to LaVerkin last week for the blessing of Michael and Lori Porter's baby boy. Michael blessed his son and gave him the name, Lincoln Jay Porter. (The late Lincoln Lyman is the babe's great grandfather.) Also present for the occasion were Grandparents, Don and Gwen Porter and daughters, Mandy and Kelsey. Great grandparents were: Rolain Alvey and Marvin and Gloria Porter. Faye Lyman, Escalante, Dana Alvey and children, Lisa, Cris and Shilo; Jason and Dana Porter, all of Cedar City; Wally and Natalie Veater and two sons, Clay and Sam Miller, Panguitch, all made the trip to attend the LDS sacrament meeting and be in attendance for the blessing. Darlene Edmiston will be wearing at least one new boot for Christmas and maybe one ' high heel shoe to balance herself! her-self! She had foot surgery last week. Glad you got your shopping shop-ping done first Darlene. Barbara Imlay will be recovering recov-ering from surgery through the holidays also. She, too, had surgery sur-gery last week. Tracy Sidwell had to go to the hospital after suffering a fall. So he will get a break from driving the mail. Not hardly worth it, but hope he will be okay soon. Julie Ford met Sondra and Velma Boulter in Beaver Saturday and brought Velma on home. She has been in Provo with Sondra since October. She went to Brigham City and stayed with J. C. And Eva Haws for a few days during that time. Also went to Layton for dinner with Wanda Hansen and her daughters. Sylvia Alvey joined with them too. The senior citizen bus went to Cedar City on Monday. Included in the group were: Julie Ford, Velma Boulter, Carrie Griffin, Clea Woolsey, Garneal Smith, Clorene Vidrine, Max Porter and Lane Liston drove the bus. They said the wind just about blew them off the road all the way home that night' It was pretty bad! |
