| Show CANYON BRUDGE IS COMPLETED approaches to structure will be finished for peach day traffic D R wheelwright who is tending the construction ol of the new concrete bridge over box elder creek at the mouth of the canyon said yesterday ithac the work will be completed and the road thrown open to ito le before peach day september 1718 17 18 the list last concrete was poured on the bridge last monday and the splendid bendid new structure completed the approaches to the bridge co covering vexing a dista distance nee ol of one third mile are practically ti completed at the west side of the bridge and the last covering of gravel Is being put on the ithe road at the present time on the east side there is still considerable fillingin filling in work left also the construction ot 0 a 50 root foot concrete extending into the mountain on the south for protection against flood waters and where the creek runs close to the road the slope of the grade will be with stone to protect the road guards NY will I 1 also be installed on either side of the big highway hway tor for the protection of traffic ic the now new bridge has been constructed midway between the ithe old bardige and the old city power house it has a clear 20 foot span and is 13 24 feet wide the same width as the road the west wall is feet long with a straight shoot ot of 97 feet and approximately pounds ot of were a I 1 in constructing tha bridge T i workmanship and or the tae bridge are the very bests best sad ead the structure Is 11 one of the finest ut of its size li the state mr air wheels erht cht hat bar abbit twenty men and tiye five teanis teams emr ed in constructing ting fo f o ap app oches iches and the gravel used on ibis work Is procured from the side ot of the hill the gravel is very tine fine tor for road finishing and the new highway will pack rapidly when put into uie use and should be as smooth as a floor theold bridge which has served edthe the public for many years will not be torn out we are informed but will remain as a crossing over to the sand pits on the north hillside and will also be used in trailing sheep and cattle through the canyon under the direction of district engineer X ac C wright of the ithe state road commission the mountain highway from mantua to we wellsville 11 ille has recently been resurfaced with several inches ot of gravel and put in excellent condition shortly the work of cut sting off some ot of the sharp points in box elder canyon will be commenced by the state and this road also will be greatly improved |
