Show SPECIAL FEATURE atra FOR PEACH DAY indian war dance and pony races parade free peaches galore Arran arrangements arrangement gemen te were made today by peach day manager W L hoist with thomas and a committee of washakie Wash akle indians for an indian encampment camp ment near brigham city during the peach day celebration here september and isab and participation by a few score of indians in the annual fruit festival including an in afan group in the parade in primitive costume and war paint a war dance and indian pony races the indians will bring their own beet beef steer tor for a barbecue parade manager AM hansen has announced prizes tor for fur four divisions of the parade so that industrial floats civic and educational floats and exhibits and humorous entries will all compete tor for prizes within those groups A number of 0 bands have been engaged school units have been enlisted civic organizations and industrial units have been induced to make up lip one of the most beautiful and spectacular pageants ever presented in a peach day celebration the horse racing meet promises to be bc one of the most interesting features it i t the celebration as over one hundred horses have already been listed tor for entry by orlando peterson IV W S fife and norman jensen of the racing com I 1 attee L noble will bring a string of twenty horses and a number of trainers have already indicated that they will bring their horses to the new half mile course for fortio two weeks of training before the meet four chariot teams have signified their intention of entering and much interest has been aroused among horsemen in the musical al chair races and the relay races with saddles and without I 1 saddles V II 11 superintendent of construe tian of the new race course at pioneer park was instructed last evening by the board of governors of the box elder commercial club and chamber of commerce to begin at once to complete the railing around the course to remove the peach trees which have been permitted to remain inside the course until the seasons crop was re inot ed and to final surface the track A force of men has been at work constructing ting the sheet aror iraq fence which will surround the athletic field which ea closure is being erected by the city carl fruit manager and IV V L hoist have made a survey of the orchards surrounding the city and have branded the trees which will be held to provide the free fruit and the display much of the material tor for the smith hughes fair exhibits which will form a part of the horticultural hArti cultural and agricultural exhibits has been collected by mr and county agent robert H stewart chairman of the committee and is now held in cold storage at the brigham ice company plant the luscious peaches and watermelons water melons and cantaloupes I 1 dupes will be distributed tree free to the visitors tars at the pioneer park on both days of the celebration and there will be an abundance for all i cent a mile rates during the celebration have been announced from all points on the utah idaho central railroad and a similar rate of a cent a mile will be announced toy by the oregon short line railroad from all points into salt lake and ogden which rates can be taken advantage of by peach day excursionists who can buy tickets to those points and get oft off at brigham city and then return directly from brigham if they do not desire to go on and return from the point of destination ti |
