Show Municipalities Seeking Public Servants November's municipal elections elec-tions will eventually generate some excitement in Garfield County, but for the moment, few people seem to be aware that the period of time for candidates to register to run for local elected positions is on - and that they have until Aug. 15 to sign up with their local town or city clerk, or maybe too few have political ambitions to serve. Since the July 15 opening day for sign-up, there has been little action except in Panguitch where terms will be expiring for three city council members: Greg Payne, Rick Swanger, and Cindy Stewart. So far, Payne has filed for re-election and is joined by three others seeking a seat on the city's council: Mack Oetting, Sal Luca, and Art Cooper. In Escalante, the terms of Don Mosier, Dean Gledhill and Howard Porter are expiring. To date, no one has filed for one of the seats. In Tropic where terms will end for Gaia Greenhalgh and Lamar Feltner, clerk Marie Niemann reported that no one had filed. In Hatch, the terms of Kelly Dix and Dennis will expire. Only Dalton has filed for reelection re-election and there are yet no Other candidates. Cannonville Clerk Lila Hammer said that the terms of Ben Mathews and George Thompson are expiring and there have been no applications filed. In Antimony, Kasey King and Calvin Gleave will complete their terms of office. Clerk Nancy Prather said that no one has filed. In Boulder, mayor Keith Gailey said that the terms of Gladys LeFevre and Donna Wilson will end, but he did not know if anyone had signed to run. He reported that Clerk Judy Davis was on vacation. Mary Behunin, replacing her during her absence, was unavailable. Wilson acknowledged acknowl-edged that she had filed for reelection, re-election, but was also unaware of others who may have filed. No information was available from Henrieville. |
