Show Grandma Talbot Is Cheering For New Astros Pitcher PANGUITCH - In what can be called a pretty close local connection, Mitch Talbot of Cedar City, grandson of a proud Norma Talbot of Panguitch, was first scouted and then recently selected in the second round of the draft, as a pitcher for the Houston Astros in their Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. Mitch is the son of former outstanding pitcher and graduate gradu-ate of Panguitch High School Art Talbot and his wife, Mary who also reside in Cedar City. Young Talbot has been a hard-throwing six-foot prep pitcher for his high school team at Canyon View High in Cedar City. After years of hard work, the young athlete thought his dream might just slip through his fingers. But, as he awaited news by logging on the MLB.com website, that dream suddenly became reality. At first not even aware of where the Astros send their new rookie players, Talbot later learned he would travel to Martinsville, Tenn. After signing all the necessary neces-sary paper work, his parents, Art and Mary Talbot, will make a go at negotiating the signing bonus for their son, unless the process calls for hiring an agent. Talbot's baseball career began early on with his mother as his first coach and his dad noting at age three that Mitch had the ability to make it some day. He will leave Behina for now behind family, the community he loves and the arms of girl friend Brittney Show but Talbot's commitment is strong and serious. |
