Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Congratulations to Almeda Haycock who recently received a pin, letter and certificate from the Postal Service for 30 years of dedicated service. I, for one, think she should have had a postmaster job in there somewhere! some-where! John, Margaret and David Townsend, Powell Butte, Ore., spent the weekend here and attended the open house and dedication of the First Baptist Church. They also visited the friends they made while they were here as former owners of the Turnabout program. It was great to see them again! Pat and Bobbi Coughlin have had their grandson Brandon here, keeping them young and on the ball! He is the son of their daughter, Trisha Coughlin. The Second LDS Ward has a new Relief Society presidency. Fran Wilson is the new president, presi-dent, Joyce Griffin, first counselor, coun-selor, Lana Christian second counselor and Lillian Coleman, secretary. Fran took Dixie Mitchell's place and Joyce took Fran's place in the previous presidency. Gerald Barney took his father Thell Barney to Sandy for the funeral of TheH's sister Lena Alvey. Howard and Lena Alvey were former residents of Escalante and brought home a great posterity every Memorial Day for the Porter Reunion. They were greatly missed this year when Lena's failing health prevented them from coming. Our condolences to the Alvey family. Gerald and Thell dropped Roxie off in Marysvale to visit with her daughter Maurice Epling while they attended the , funeral in Sandy. Kyle and Heather Bundy have had Heather's sister Hannah here visiting this past week. Heather's parents Brett and Virginia Rushton, St. George, are here to spend the weekend and to help the Bundys celebrate Pioneer Day. We are saddened to learn that Faye Bailey Fields died July 1 in Fort Worth, Tex. Faye is survived sur-vived by her husband Vance and kids Kim and Ron Rhoads, and Julie and Mark Jackson, all of Fort Worth; and Tracy Dee and Thaddeus Speck of Golden, Colo.; her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Faye was the daughter of Charles and Mary Alice Shurtz Bailey. Marc and SusAnn McLemore took their children Devin, Logan and Hailey and a nephew, Colby Johnson from Kanab, on a little vacation recently. They traveled to Idaho Falls and spent the night with SusAnn 's brother, Richard Boardman and family, then Richard and his son, Dallon, went with them on to Dillon, Mont. There they met a business acquaintance of Marc's whose family owns a private pond and a pelican paddle boat for unlimited fishing. After a huge ranch breakfast, they caught 60 or 70 four and five pound fish. They kept only a dozen or so, but what great fun! On their return trip they visited the Idaho Falls LDS Temple grounds and the kids thought that was really special. Such things are what makes family trips memorable. Right? DeLoy Spencer brought his sister, Betty Jean Dowdell and also had 2 sons and their families fami-lies with him from the Provo area. Vernon and Peggy Roundy, Monroe, were seen along the parade route. |
