Show Dave Harris Retires From 31 Years Federal Service David F. Harris, range technician techni-cian on the Powell Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest is retiring after 31 years of federal service. Harris, a native of Provo, also spent some of his early life in California. The family moved back to Utah where he graduated from Provo High school in 1958. He served some time in the military and worked as an architect in Cedar City for several years. In 1966, he began working for the Forest Service as a civil engineering technician. In 1973, he moved with his family to Panguitch where he continued working as an engineering engi-neering technician. He served as an engineering representative and contracting con-tracting officer on many national forest and public works projects during this time. One large project he assisted on was the design and construction of Utah State Highway 12 from Boulder to near Grover from 1973 to 1975. In 1987, Harris changed pos-tions pos-tions and was assigned to the Powell Pow-ell Ranger District where he has worked as a range technician since. During the past 10 years, Harris has been working with grazing permittees, permit-tees, construction range improvements, improve-ments, constructing trails and assisting assis-ting in the recreation improvement c V r Dave Harris programs. As a special assignment, assign-ment, he has served as the communications com-munications officer on Incident Management Teams (fire teams) on many major fires in the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Region. During his career, ca-reer, Harris has received numerous performance awards. Dave married Karran Domgaard of Provo in 1963. They are the parents of four children; Dan, Wendy, Russell and Bryan and four grandchildren. His hobbies include amateur radio operator and fishing. His retirement is effective on Jan. 3. |
