Show It Is StiU A Mystery I did not know that I had covered all of the social problems that Mr. Barney mentioned in his rebuttal to my article, "Mystery of the 90s", but I am pleased that he brought them up. He states that he is neither liberal or conservative. I disagree with him on this point. The title of his article, "Do What Feels Right", definitely takes him out of the conservative ranks. Had he said "Do what you KNOW is right", then I may have agreed with him. I do not know if he goes back far enough to remember the ultra liberal 'Hippie Generation' Or the 60s and 70s, but if he does, he should be able to recall that this was their philosophy to the letter. They were the original 'Me' generation. If it feels good do it; if you want it take it; if it's good for me, it is good for everyone. Far too many of this generation raised their children under the 'Dr. Spock' rules. They spared the rod and spoiled the child. Now it is their children we are dealing with in our schools and far too many of these children never learned right from wrong; they were never disciplined, and never learned how to behave in a normal society. Since most of this generation had no commitment to anything but themselves, family unity meant nothing to them and single mothers became the mode of the day. Now these children are roaming the streets getting their 'kicks' out of drive-by shootings (I hope he saw the TV documentary a few nights ago) robberies, doing drugs etc. because it "feels right" to them. Many parents who would have raised their children properly did not dare because of the 'child abuse' philosophy of the liberal courts, the so-called civil rights groups (ACLU and others) and the liberals in legislatures and congress. I will grant you one point in your article. Not all liberals are necessarily bad. Only those who have positions of authority or the power to negate the American Values I listed and those who finance their activities would be classed as 'bad for our country. Those not in these categories may even do a little good. One last point, Mr. Barney. According to your rationale, if you were a witness to a crime and the perpetrator was able to hide the evidence and with the help of a slick lawyer and our liberal courts he was found not guilty, then in your eyes, he is not guilty. This is exactly what "Our Bill" has done. If you were in his shoes and had tapes, documents, records, etc. that would prove that all of these accusations and allegations were absolutely false, would you request Presidential privilege and do everything else possible to hide them or would you do everything possible to bring them into the open to prove to the world that you were the type of person that we used to think a President should be. I am looking forward to your response to this last question. Earl Roe Paneuitch. Utah |
