Show POULTRY TOP T RIP GREAT SUCCESS more than sixty box elder people visit large larg e poultry plants last friday sixteen carloads of poultry men totaling more than 9 sixty I 1 aty in num numbers beTs left from in front of 0 the court house tor for a tour as far south as american fork to visit some 0 of the poultry plants ot of the state A committee consisting ot of professor dyron byron alder veran boothe Do othe jesse hoopes and county agricultural agent stewart outlined the trip which was enjoyed by all the first stop was made at mr knights poultry plant at woods cross here we studied proper breeding methods necessary for strong high producing flocks our next stop was at mr Ram shaws shawls commercial hatching plant at south salt lake here the visitors were privileged to see a large commercial hatchery we next drove to draper and took lunch after which we visited the large cooperative grading storage plant here the eggs of all the local poultry association members are candled candied and graded also all the poultry feeds purchased in carload lots are mixed stored and distributed here to all its members thus using better feeding methods uniformity and pleasing profits for the local poultry men A little farther on and a stop was made at the beautiful poultry plant of president mr has near five thousand hens and nine thousand chicks the problems of h housing ous ing feeding and care of eggs before I 1 ore shipping to the central cooperative were studied here we then drove on to american fork here we ilist visited tho the association egg grading plant and checked on the candling and storage of the eggs while at the plant before shipping in carload lots we also learned the names of some of the men who produce on the average from 60 50 to 75 per cent of 0 eastern extra eggs after which we drove to the farms of one high hilah producer in american fork and the farm of of mr air coats of lehl lehi mr goats produces from his flock an average of 65 per cent eastern extras at this last stop in lehl lehi professor byron alder of the utah agricultural college praised the poultry men who made this trip for their poultry interest summarized the trip urged all to 0 give their business more detailed attention I 1 the following is EL a list ot of those who made the trip from brigham city prof byron alder U A C co aal and mrs R H stewart perry D peters geo laney carl robert shaw mr air and mrs martin anderson bp abel S rich dr munns prof fowler and family wm gleave cleave E IV dunn 0 elias jensen and family mr going and family from perry bp haber perry I 1 isaac allen alien W 1 I hargis from willard merlin cook and francis cook from deweyville Dewe mr and Ms J P barnard mr and mrs owen gardner and elden perry front from corinne mr air and mrs george dott bott mr air and mrs cleaves front from honeyville arand mr and A mrs irs veran soothe boothe mr and mrs abinido tolman mr air and mrs airs george wintle mr air and mrs israel hunsaker and airs V irs matilda hunsaker from thatcher mr and mrs calvin waldron and family mr air and mrs ray bishop and mrs aimon wight IVI glit also some eight boy club members from cas cast rt of the river and a number of little folks As a whole it was a very wonderful trip we wish to take this opportunity to thank all those who assisted us in making this poultry excursion a success TIM THE POULTRY COMMITTEE |
