Show Panguitch News By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 The muddy city streets were nearly dried up when a snowy valentine val-entine storm blew in on the wings of a cold north wind. It must be spring coming in like a lion. State Representative Tom Hatch cleared the way for the elementary schools fourth grade students to attend a legislative session. They also visited the Hansen Planetarium. Planetar-ium. Teachers Janis Henrie, Jill Chidester, Barbara Heaten and several sev-eral parents went along to help. The kids had a ball! The city library received a grant of $8,000 to buy large print books and audio tapes for folks who need this help. Verda Tebbs and son Michael Tebb's family went to Cedar City to the LDS mission farewell of grandson Robert Tebbs, son of Richard and Irene Henrie Tebbs. He was called to Germany. Many other members of the Tebbs family were there: Angela Sheffer and two sons Ryan and Cody and Linda Sue Jacobs and son Dereck came to wish their cousin well. Neucile Yardley reports that she and husband Jim had a foster daughter daugh-ter and family here from Japan. Gobin, Ayako and little Alka Jivatram are traveling the USA on textile business. Their home was destroyed in 1995 by an earthquake. Jim and Neucile went to Las Vegas to baby sit Jeneal Carter's kids. I The Jivatram's stopped there also and took the Yardley's to a real-honest-to-goodness Chinese dinner. Jim and Neucile then drove to In-dio, In-dio, Calif, and visited with Panguitch Pan-guitch native Lloyd Beckstrom and his wife Joann, who own a date farm, for three days. They picked and brought home dates, tangerines, grapefruit etc. a car load, something some-thing Panguitchites don't get to do often. Harold and Winona Sevy went to Nephi to attend the Eagle Court of Honor for grandson Ben Sevy, son of Ken and Annett Sevy. Other grandson, Elder Tom Davis left for an LDS mission in New Jersey. He is a son of Richard Davis and Ann Holland. Shirley Henrie was happy to have brother Clark and wife Sharon Tebbs of Orem to stay overnight with her. They all went to St. George to see Bry and Lois Tebbs. Lois is recovering from hip surgery. sur-gery. Wallace and Lucile Dowdel Tebbs and Merlin and Billie Tebbs joined their sisters for a good visiting visit-ing fest and an MGM Cafe dinner. The Elliot Barneys have bought the former Mary Sargent home. Hugh Goulding is home after a months stay in California. He owns the former Lawrence and Hazel Ha-zel Orton home. The Kay Heywoods had Wolfgang Wolf-gang and Kathy Heywood Geiselmier here. Kay, Neilene and Annette Heywood gave interesting talks in Panguitch LDS 3rd Ward Sacrament meeting. The Young Women of the ward sang a lovely number. Pauline Prince, Cloeen Bybee and Rachel Keller sang a touching song "My Testimony". Forty-four young people and several priesthood drivers went to St. George to do temple work. Ronda K. Ronnie Cooper was baptized by his brother Jeff and was confirmed a member of the LDS Church by his father Jim Cooper. William Edward Bensen was made a deacon. His parents are Bill and Shelly Bensen, new folks in town. The Merle Princes had son Frank's family here over the weekend. week-end. Elder Chad Brinkerhoff s mission mis-sion farewell was held this past week in Panguitch LDS First Ward Sacrament meeting. Parents Kendell and Marilyn Brinkerhoff as well as Elder Chad and his brothers and sisters all took part in the program. pro-gram. He will serve in Australia. Issac Matthews was called as Sunday Sun-day School teacher. Little Julia Reynolds was blessed by her father Nick Reynolds. Patsy Lyons, school counselor was welcomed into ward. |
