Show By Mamie Talbot 801-676-8084 'Tis the week before Christmas and winter is officially here. At 8 a.m. the sun shines brightly and the temperature is zero degrees. A flock of brave and hungry starlings search for food on the frozen ground and a place to sit in the sun in the trees. The two big neighborhood crows huddle on the top-most branch of a bare cottonwood tree looking like vultures waiting to pounce. .The sewer trucks and equipment are on the go and the workers wear ski masks and parkas to keep their skin intact. No snow on the ground and just here and there a small patch of ice on the north sides and smoke wavering south from the chimney. Alfield Josie is home from her month-long stint in Norway caring for her parents. The Greg Paynes are building a big garage rather than a house in the north west corner of town. They hoped to move their mobile house up next to it but winter came too soon. Austin Owens son of the Gary Owens was made a priest and Bracken Englestead a teacher in Panguitch 3rd Ward LDS Sacrament meeting. Ami Williams was youth speaker with Jim Hatch and John Gillett were Stake Council speakers. speak-ers. Randy Klien was scheduled to speak but he and son were in a car accident and Randy was hurt so he appointed John to take his place. John said when one's boss gives an order one obeys. The Ward choir, Bishop Del Hulet as reader and Barbara Orton, Elaine Matthews, Karren Harris and Lisa Williams, violinists presented lovely musical numbers. |
