Show Close Games Mark City League Play By John W Yardley The opening round of Panguitch City League basketball began last week with three close games. The league, created in the mind's eye by Jake Albrecht, became a reality as a great turnout of players and fans participated in three games. Curds Marsh hit a three-pointer with two seconds left to lift Yardley Insurance to a 44-43 win over the Country Corner. Paul Hatch hit for 11 and Greg Excell drilled three three-pointers and a free throw for 10. Arlin Sawyer and Dale Orton were hot, as was Mike Dalton for Country Corner as they scored 14, 14 and 10 respectively. Zion's Bank drilled Leland's Chevron 67-60 as Mike Baldwin scored 22 and Kenny Orton 18. For, Leland's, Leland Pollock and Gary Owens each hit for 14, Buzz Dalton 11, and Craig Heaton 10. In the third game, Garkane outscored the Dental Dunkers 58-53 with Scott Christensen scoring a blistering 26 points and Tod Trout ripping in 20. Heath Sartini scored 13 and Calvin Tisi 11 for the Cavity Cav-ity Fighters. The games can be seen each Tuesday night. |
