Not hope in the glitter and sparkle of the season; nor the multitude of unwanted and II unnecessary items cluttering the shelves and counters of shops. Not hope in Santa and his reindeer, nor lights trimming trees and homes. But hope is a tiny baby born in a stable in a far country. Angels serenaded Him; shepherds came to worship Him; kings brought gifts to Him. k We remember this day as His birthday. His birth is God's gift to everyone: to active ac-tive youngster, the aging grandparent, the wealthy in their elaborate homes, the poor with no home at all, the suffering who ;0tt I crowd prisons and hospitals. the don We did nothing to earn this gift. We can- DS not make enough money in a lifetime to pay inn- for it, nor can we do unending good works u to obtain it. It is a true gift-but we must Mr. accept it to make it our own. Jesus, God's Gift, His only Son, came to earth to give us hope. Hope in everlasting life with Him. Hope that, with our life in n His control, it will have meaning and purpose. pur-pose.
