Shcrce was pinned briefly, the van on its top, but she managed to pry a door and climb out and make her way, clinging to snowy sage brush, back up to the road where she hailed two Escalante women motorists who were quick to assist her. State road workers Jeff Johnson and Rick Bybce arrived at the scene as did Tropic EMTs who transported her to the hospital. Still recovering from her injuries, Shcrce nevertheless did not abnadoncd previously made plans to travel to Washington, D.C. to visit son Tim Garrett, his wife, Tcri an, for the first time, five-month old daughter Shelby Shayc. Tim is stationed in Washington, D.C. in the U.S. Air Force and works at the White House, where Shcrce was given a first class tour. Eva Pollock was in Panguitch for medical care last week and reports re-ports she is feeling better. Larvin has been taking good care of her. Larvin and Eva were happy to have son Bill and wife Slaccy from Delta; daughter Marian and husband Blake Allen from Orcm; daughter Pauline and husband Brent Allen from Tulsa, Oka. and their families home for the Easter holiday. The Pollocks daughter Maureen and husband Ron and family from Denver had visited earlier. Louise Ott drove Minnie Niclson over to the doctor for a medical checkup. Louise reports she and Stan made a trip to the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City and while there they ran into Nile Sawyer. He is the brother of Tropic's own Wanda Shakcspcar, formerly of Hatch, is newly married and living in St. George. Louise said, to her surprise she and Stan ran into recent ncwlywcds Floyd and Gerry Moon Riddle in the VA Hospital as well. All had a good visit and shared some hugs. Merle Richards is recovering from surgery performed at the Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City last week. It is certain she would appreciate some cards and good wishes. Dixie Shakcspcar has had family members at her home helping out. ER has taken ill. She said prayers in his behalf arc appreciated. Malcn and Marian Mccham traveled to Cedar City to attend a mission report by Marian's grandson, grand-son, Bruce Miles. Bruce just returned re-turned from San Jose, Calif. He is a son of Roland and Pamela Miles of Cedar City. Congratulations to Eric and Traccy Syrctt who have a new baby daughter, Ashlynn Nicole. Three brothers arc home to welcome her. Kami Mangum met her sister Staccy Taylor in Cedar City and they traveled on to Henderson, Ncv. to visit yet another sister, Jill Prcsbcy. The three had a great time as sisters generally do. Margaret Shakcspcar and children chil-dren traveled to Blue Water, New Mcx. to attend her nephew's missionary mis-sionary farewell. Franz stayed home and traveled to his nephew's mission report in Cedar City. Ron McGcc and family were in town. Ron's daughter, Crystal was out delivering Girl Scout cookies. Krystal Shakcspcar, daughter of Kevin and Kay Shakcspcar of Santa Clara was also in town as well, delivering de-livering those delicious cookies. Luana Riddle is home recovering form knee surgery which was performed per-formed Tuesday, April 1 1 at a "Same Day" care center. Larry and Carol Adair of St. George visited with his mother, Ella Adair. Charley and Eva Dean Francisco have had a two and onc-half-ycar-old grandson, Shane Griffin, staying at their house for several days. He is a son of Sharon and Robin Griffin of Monroe and had the time of his life until the third night, when he decided he needed "Mama." He was happy to sec his Mom and Dad arrive ar-rive the next day for a visit. Charley and Eva Dean traveled to Parowan on Sunday, March 9 for grandson William's birthday and grandson Charley's ordination as a teacher in the LDS Parowan Ward. William and Charley arc the sons of Loydc and Helena Mortcnscn of Parowan. Karen Ott drove her parents Doyle and Thclma Cottam to Salt Lake City to greet their grandson as he returned home from an LDS mission in Italy. Travis Cottam is a son of Myron and Sancttc Cottam of Escalante. Fred and Ellen Hall visited Minnie Niclson and reported that daughter, Marie Niemann, is doing well and will soon be home. Gail and Bonnie Miles of Midvale; daughter JoAnn Carter of Orcm; son Greg Miles and wife Susan and three sons of Las Vegas, Ncv.; daughter Carrie and husband Kip Fcris and two daughters spent the Easter holiday with Ella Adair, mother, grandmother and grcat-grandmothcr, grcat-grandmothcr, to celebrate her birthday birth-day which va Saturday, April 15. Gail and Bonnie Miles arc building build-ing a home next to her mother, Ella Adair. Plans arc to get underway next week. Welcome home Bonnie, you loo, Gail. Price and Darlcnc Allrcd of Mesa, Ariz, spent a few days in Tropic slaying at the Charley and Eva Dean Francisco home. Shanna Barton is the new assis: tant at the Tropic Post Office. Escalante LDS Slake Relief Society president Chcri Fcltncr is reminding ladies in the stake about the special temple day set for April 29 at the St. George Temple with a special session starling at 10:30 a.m. Luncheon at the temple for Those planning to attend should let their local Relief Society president know so that an accurate count can be made for the luncheon.
