Show Benefit Themselves It's enough to make Ebenezer Bryce turn over in his grave! Had today's "goody-goody" environmentalists environ-mentalists been effective in the past, we likely would not have had a Bryce Canyon, a Zion Canyon, or for that matter, any number of state and national parks to enhance our ecology and provide so much splendor and enjoyment for the entire world. In December, Bryce Canyon could see its one-millionth visitor for the past year, a definite benefit for the surrounding counties and the State as a whole. Could not Burr Trail add the same type of benefits by adding additional access to more of Utah's splendors (e.g. Bullfrog Basin Marina and Lake Powell Area)? Mr. Robert Redford and cohorts were very instrumental in putting the "Kaputs" on the Kaiparowits venture; one which no doubt would have benefited our Southern Counties. Coun-ties. Now Mr. Redford, Marie Osmond, Os-mond, et al, have turned about-face to put efforts and muscle in building build-ing a multi-laned highway through Provo Canyon, surely at a cost in the millions. Southern Utah counties coun-ties would protest not at all, even though the benefits to them would be minimal. And of course, improvement of the Provo Canyon highway would certainly enhance the approach to a resort called "SUNDANCE" eh-what?! eh-what?! J. J. Cook Spry, Utah P. O. Box 672 Panguitch, UT 84759 |
