Show Candidates Scarce As Deadline Nears With the filing deadline for the November municipal elections only five days away, only two candidates have filed to fill 19 city positions. Eighteen of the positions being vacated arc council seats and two are mayors' posts. The only two candidates who have filed arc both from Panguitch, Denny Orton, who has filed for his won seat, and Faye Barney who is filing for the first time. Panguitch candidates whose terms have expired ex-pired are Frank Houston, Jim Hatch, Denny Orton, and Bob Smith who resigned two years into his four year term. Antimony councilmen whose terms have expired are Jerry Savage and Julian Fox and Mayor Phil Allen. All were appointed to fill unexpired terms of others. Barbara Gardiner and Gary Wayne Haws are the two council-men council-men from Boulder who have expired ex-pired terms. Howard Leavitt and Anita Fletcher are the two outgoing councilmen from Cannonville. Two Escalante councilmen who were appointed have not yet filed to return to office. They are Blaine Lyman and Gerald Barney. Hatch councilmen Calvin Wilson Wil-son and Wiley Huntington, both two-year electees, have not yet filed. Lillian Shakespear and Calvin Grundvig are leaving office and have not yet filed for re-election. They were both appointed to office Tropic's mayor Rick Bybee who was appointed, and councilmen Bob Bradley and Leland Pollock who are leaving office have also not filed for re-election as of press time. |
