Show By Harriet Priska 8264810 Spring has sprung! The fields are green, forsythia is blooming, - , pruning and planting continue and ' families are enjoying Easter break. Jim and Anita Bowman went to Durango, Colo, where Jim took training in a fire school and Anita shopped till she dropped. Lori and Dal Liston went to Salt Lake City to see her parents. Patrice and Brent Cottam took ' Lynn and Judy Griffin to Dallas, Tex. to do the gift show there. Betty Hill has moved here from Henrietta, Tex. She is living with ' her daughter, Debbie Lyman. Janis Gledhill is another daughter who also lives here. Betty lived in Escalante in 1968-69 when her ' husband worked in the oil fields ': and then briefly in 1988-89. She is : glad to be here and has joined the Escalante Baptist Church. : "Annie" the pot bellied pig is the latest addition to Barry and Ce- leste Bernard's menagerie. She is ; very happy now that she has her : own pen complete with her name over the gate. '.- Melba and Arlis Brooks have just returned from four months in Phoenix, Ariz. They had a wet winter and saw the flooding in Yuma. They stayed near their son and daughter-in-law Daryl and Diane Alvey. Escalante Police Chief Anthony Byron told members at the last city council meeting that another pickup truck had been stolen from town, stripped, and totaled for the second Spring in a row. He said that both vehicles had the keys left in the ignition when they were stolen and encouraged everyone to take their keys out of vehicles when parking and leaving them. Members of the Utah Historical Society will be here May 6 to document any quilts made in Utah before 1950. There will be a potluck dinner at noon in the home ec room at the old high school followed by documentation from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring in quilts in any condition. The team is interested in recording patterns. Volunteers please contact Ruth Ann Oliver at the Slickrock Gallery at 826-4923.
