Show No Equipment Auction By DWR This Season For the first time in several years, the Division of Wildlife Resources will not auction confiscated hunting rifles and other sporting equipment this fall. A spokesman for the divisions law enforcement section; says there is not enough equipment this year to warrant the popular event. Utah courts have the option of confiscating weapons and other equipment used In the commission of Class A misdemeanors such as poaching. The fact that enough equipment has not been confiscated reflects a decline in equipment claimed by the courts in serious wildlife cases. The spokesman said the division expects more hunting and fishing equipment to be confiscated by Utah judges during the upcoming hunting seasons. "We'll probably have a full-scale auction sometime in the spring," he said. |
