Show Representing Panguitch High School at the Girls State convention at Southern Utah State College in Four Represent Area At Utah Girls State Four local misses, Heidi Hep-worth, Michelle Linford, Patrice. Proctor and Susan Townzen represented Panguitch High School at Girls State held recently at Southern Utah State College in Cedar City. the process of learning about the various functions of city, county and state governments, were separated into mythical cities. Hepworth Cedar City were, Susan Townzen, Heidi Hepworth, Patrice Proctor and Michelle Linford. became a citizen of T.Y.C., Linford went to Maw, Proctor spent her time in Clyde, while Townzen became an inhabitant of Bamgerger. The Girl Staters spent some time in orientation meetings, receiving instruction in various governmental functions. After assignment to cities, the staters worked in the election process and attended various local and state offices. Hepworth was elected county delegate, city fire chief and city psychiatrist in T.Y.C. Linford was also elected as a county delegate with the added responsibility of being named city attorney of Maw. Proctor was elected state representative, sergeant-at-arms, to the governors committee, to the greeting committee, and a city police woman in Clyde, while Townzen also elected as' state representative, took on; Ihe' additional responsibilities of county delegate, roads and highway committee member, election committee member and city trash collector of Bamberger. According to Hepworth, "The girls learned alot about government and alot about the meaning of patriotism." Hepworth said she hoped that "the girls who go to Girls State next year have as an enjoyable time as the '85 'staters' did." |
