Show Escalante Fay Alvey Dovle Cottam drove himself home from Salt Lake City to finish recovering from surgery Claron Barney went north for more surgery. The town was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of our mayor, Dale Marsh. Max and Evelyn Heap came form Cedar City to help with chores and give moral support. Betty Alvey went to Riverton to help out at the Jay Stokes home as Linda has to be hospitalized. Bernice Johnson got word of the critical illness of her son Steve in St. George. Mannley went immediately and Bernice later. Ivan and Nelda Willis went to Beaver and joined Lynn and Garna Mclnelly for a trip to San Diego and Nelda came home with bronchitis. The Mait Spencers reported that son Lael was out of the hospital and working part time. The Hank Boltons had son Lee here from Wyoming. The Relief Society held a successful, well attended bazaar. The S tarns Mechams and Marlene Haws had business in Richfield. Arnold And Deon Alvey went to Loa over the mountain and regretted the route taken. Stan and Neta Haycock went to Salt Lake City to take the piano belonging to daughter Janis. Mary and Philo Carter came from Arizona to spend Christmas. Haws Porter brought his mother, Mina home and took back 'a load of trees, Janet drove Mina's car home. Vergean and Carolyn Porter went to Provo for shopping and visiting. Lynn and Judy Griffin went to Las Vegas dropping their two youngest in Cedar City at the Searle home. A group went to St. Geroge and sent word to Martha Twitchell who met them for a good visit. A reception was held Saturday night honoring Sherree and Bob Rechtseiner who exchanged wedding vows the day before at St. George. A program was presented, MC'd by Lillian Coleman. Friends and relatives of both were ' present. The DUP held their i annual Christmas dinner I Thursday with 20 present. Brad Shalet directed : cast of eight in a melodrama last week i with the donations going to the ward budget. Hal and Geneal Shurtz spent Thanksgivng in Pleasant Grove with Brenda dn Mike Harper while Kim and Vicki Nelson and family came here to cook their turkey. I The Shurtz went to Cedar City for dental appointments and stayed overnight with Valaree : and Stan Hunting. They ' came back to Panguitch J for the christening of their granddaughter born ; to Kay and Micki. At sacrament meeting ; the speakers were Mondell Syrett and Margaret Mecham.
