Show Panguitch Lions were sponsors for Friday evening's special awards tribute to the "Bobcat" basketball team who placed 3rd in state competition this year. Coach , Approximately 100 people gathered Friday night to honor the members of Panguitch High School's award winning Bobcats. The team took third place in state competition recently in Provo after a successful season and a trip to Region 12 competition in Beaver. Panguitch Lions sponsored the awards banquet with proceeds helping to purchase trophies for each boy, their two coaches, and a large trophy which will be displayed in the trophy case at Panguitch High School Trophies were awarded at the state competition only to first place and consolation winners. The Panguitch Lions wanted to see the team members receive trophies for their outstanding performance this past year. Delin Roundy accepts trophy from presenter John Trout, while Howard Roper, left enjoyed his role as master of ceremonies. Bobcats Honored At Banquet Lions club president Howard Roper welcomed participants to the banquet with an outline of the Bobcats' achievements the past season. Each team player was called upon by the number on his team jersey to come forward to receive his trophy. Each acknowledged his award with a short speech of thanks. Coaches Kay Englestead and Delin Roundy also received trophies which they acknowledged with a vote of thanks tc team members and all who supported them. Each boy's trophy was inscribed: 1981 State Basketball Tournament; Division 1 1-A; Third Place Champions; Panguitch High School Bobcats. Receiving trophies were Scott Christensen, Korry Soper; Richie Robison, Kelly Holman, David Henrie, Dale Orton, Mike Baldwin, Chris Barney, Mark Owens, Tod Trout, Dan Harris and Donny Leach. Panguitch First Ward Relief Society prepared and served the banquet. |
