Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey Due to the death of my mother, Mary Little, the farewell testimonial of grandson, LaMar Wiscombe and an extra committee meeting on coalition business there was no time for news writing last week, so will try and fill in. Sunday the 14th Kenneth Shurtz reported his IDS mission to Alabama. That same weekend the minibus took seven Escalante citizens and picked up five more Hatch and Panguitch residents and went north to the governors conference, Fair and Ice Follies. Cook Liston and Glen Leullen went to the Dixie Roundup and on to Las Vegas. Clella Woolsey and Laretta Spencer attended the roundup and the rodeo at Bryce Canyon. The Smith Alveys and the Johnny Alveys had business in Cedar City then went on to St. George for the celebration. Earl Woolsey was taken to Garfield Memorial Hospital. His daughter Earlene Nelson of green River stayed here to weeks then went home and Marjorie Shurtz came from Sacramento, CAlif. to help out here. Reldon and Rose Mary Palmer and son Richard of Bountiful visited the Randal Lymans, Richard just returned form a foreign mission. Ivan and Nelda Willis went to Orem to visit son Lowell and meet Maureen Dean and son Allen from California. Rae Federwisk came from Arizona to get her - mother, Claudia Rogers ready to move to Arizona. Hilda Roundy had all of jj uuj uiu mi mi m uw lURnmra her kids here for the weekend. Marlene Haws and Deon Alvey went to Salt Lake City to visit Denise Alvey and attend the Ice Follies. Pratt and Areola Gates have a grandson born to Margo and Jim Smith. Andrew and Isabell Spencer went to Tropic to accompany Karen Ott to Cedar City where Andrew had an appointment with his doctor. Nell and Reed Wooley went to Salt Lake City and took Verda Griffin to visit her sister, Verna Partridge. The Leo Wilsons and Bishop Gates got a letter stating that Sherman Wilson has been made a district leader in California. The Wayne Banks went to Moab for SUP encampment. Debra Allen was released as Primary president with Sanette Cottam and Julie Lyman counselors, Julie was sustained as president with Michelle Alvey. Shirley Marsh as counselors. Sandy Cooper as librarian for the Primary and MIA. The current season is fall, the weeds are thrifty and tall, the recent rain showers produced purple flowers which are enjoyed by all. |
