Show Special Dance Program Readied at Capitol Reef CAPITOL REEF As part of the nation's bicentennial celebration. Ballet Folklorico will perform this weekend at Capitol Reef National Park. Performances will be in the picnic area beginning at 7:00 p.m. Saturday and 3:00 p.m. Sunday. There is no admission charge. Dances of Mexico from the Aztec and Mayan period of 1168 to 1S25, the colonial period of 1800 and the early revolun-tionary era, are performed to build a ballet mosaic leading into contemporary times. This is folk art in its true sense the art which derives from the tradition of a people. Extravagant costumes, many carefully hand-embroidered, add to the drama of Utah's own Ballet Folklorico. This appearance is one of many during Utah's Bicentennial In the parks. A combination of Utah's natural and cultural resources, the Bicentennial Festival in the Parks is sponsored by the Utah American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, the National Park Service, and the Utah Division of State Parks and Recreation. |
