Show Draft Law Still Requires Young Men To Sign Up One early obligation of citizenship U the requirement at age 18 to register with the Selective Service System, A. L. Beck, Utah State Director of Selective Service aald. He reminded all young men that they have a 60-day period, 30 days before or 30 daya after their 18th birthday, to comply with the law concerning reglatration. "I am concerned," aald Mr, Beck, "that many young men fall to register when they reach age 18 because they know the draft has ended and think that registration with Selective Service has also ended. "It would be unfortunate," he said, "if a young man should break the law because the proper Information has not been made available to him." Due to the extensive budget cuts Imposed upon Selective Service the past few years, there is no longer a selective Service office In many areas of the state. Young men in this area, however, can register at any post office or with the counselor at your local high school. |
