Show Garfield Women Attend USU Leadership School Representatives from 28 of Utah's counties attended a four-day leadership school at Utah State University, Logan. Attending from Garfield County was Catherine Barney, Panguitch. The theme for the event was "Awareness," and the par ticipants took part In workshops and discussions ranging from nutrition to Interior decorating. Keynote speaker Dr. G. Alvin Carpenter discussed "Understanding and Coping With' Inflation," and nationally recognized nutritionist Dr. Roslyn Alfln-Slater talked about nutrition sense and nonsense. A creative crafts program was presented by Millard County participants and included displty and instructions for making toys, art projects, textile activities and food products. Workshops on food safety and science; clothing awareness, family resource management; ' consumer and home docoratlon; and marital techniques were conducted by specialists. Margaret Haycock, nursing Instructor for USU and Weber State College, discussed parental attitudes and the family's health, and Lanny Nalder, USU director of the Human Performance Lab, talked with the 300 women participants on physical fitness and the heart. "Each of ths activities planned during the week was designed to make community leaders aware c'. new Information and resources available to make family living be.ter," noted Margaret Merkley, director of the Leadership School. , The workshop concluded with an evaluation session and a buffet luncheon.
