Show IIJJECOMMENDATION m MAOE BY THE II SFAKE PRESIDENCY ,H To the farmers ef tke Berth I I ' end of Utah Csinty K 'BH I Gentlemen: , I Realizing I i '-,1a the time that v J; .most crops eUaU-'be planted and .HGi' rarthor that the most profitable a vH crops to plant la of great Importance, I M Wo take great pleasure 1b uniting la M B recommendation ' to the tillers of I I the soil, tho crop, that In our best I' I Judgement Is safest to be planted. I Wo do not think It wise to plant I all wheat, nor all oats and yet not all beets, and we also appreciate I that tho condition of the soil, has I much to do as to the kind of crops we I ehould plant. There is an Immense M amount of labor needed in the culti- m vntlon and harvesting of somo crops tm as against othorg and therefore we H tavo carefully considered all these H matters. I Wo feel that whore you can as well I as not, and your land Is In tho right H condition It would be well to in- I crease your beet acreage Wo have I watched the market from year to I year and wo know of no crop that Is I qulto so safo for our Farmers, as I the Beet Crop. It furnishes moro labor, It brings the land up to a good state of cullvatlon, it produces the ready cash with which to pay taxes I and pressing obligations. Wo under- stand that tho price has been agreed I upon' by the Farmers organizations and tho Sugar Companies. It appears to us that tho prlco agreed upon will I bring to tho Farmers from five I to six dollars, or perhaps moro, per BbV ton for tho beets, and if you can In- ;m crcaso your acreage we unhesitatlng- F ly recommend to tho Farmers In this I locality to raise moro Sugar Beets; I first, for tho safety of tho crop, and I second, for tho employment It wlli H will bring. If our Farmers raise I wheat, oats and alfalfa to excess, we I are apt to have too much and npt I much market, and the prices would I naturally rule low.- Potatoes also. I are often a drag on the market and I too many potatoes is also very un- J safe. We hope that our recommond- Br"' atlon In this matter will meet with the approval of our farmers and that I you will increase the acreago of Bug- nr Dcets materially. The more Boots you ralso the longer run the factories factori-es will havo and consequently the moro employment It will provide which Is very 'much needed. Wishing you success in all crops nnd Industrial etfortB, Wo remain Respectfully S. Li. Chlpman James H. Clarke A. J. Evans |
