Show Escalante Ch?tCha BY FAY ALVEY Had a variety of weather, everything except snow and frost; the fruit trees are loaded if the frost does not take over we will have a good crop. As far as we could find out the sick and afflicted are all better. Howard and Lena Al-vey stopped at the Panguitch hospital and brought Zella Al-vey home and the family all got together at the Frank Im-lay home for a dinner. Lavina i'ollock joined them. Fay and Vic Van Oostendorp came from Calif, and took daughter Min-dy home. Guy and Vonda Pollock came from Richfield and took Lavina back to attend the high school graduation of son Neal. Alfred Chiono brought Bonnie from the hospital, they had his mother Bessie Oldham, his sister and husband Debbie and Sherman Knuteson came from Salt Lake City, Debbie stayed to clean On the weekend Jim and Verda Oldham came from Panguitch to visit them and the Que Porters. Que had brother Max and family here, he gave Max a workout planting potatoes. Jim and Sarah Little and 3 boys of Midvale visited the Porters, we were in Boulder but came home to see them. LaVee and Steve Wiscombe and six kids came from Maple-ton, also Jim and Lola Alvey and son. Harvey Liston has moved home as the State gravel crusher is set up in the area. Beth Liston is home from her trip overseas, she was gone 21 days and had an enjoyable time after she joined Bobby Spencer. It was frustrating to be in a place where she could not communicate, they toured Germany, Switzerland and Fr-anse, then ran out of finances as the American dollar has become so devaluated. Beth came home with a diamond and will stay here awhile. Leo and Bernice Wilson had a visit from Freda and Ivan Baird of Ogden, they toured the Posey Lake area. Ruth and Reed Thompson of Salem spent the weekend at the Reeves Ba ker home, they also had Laura's sisters Dora Vowell and Ihelma Walton of San Juan county. Flora Marchant and her two youngest boys and some friends, Virginia Spencer Ott and husband James visited at the Baker home. Andrew Spencer twisted his hip and was hunting crutches, they had daughter Ueneal Cha tterson and children home. Ar-den Taylor and son Jerry went to Salt Lake City, Nancy and Charley Everett went to Cedar City lor Christine's graduation, then Nancy and Julie went to Salt Lake City for Memorial Day. The annual Girls Day was held under the direction of Marjie Spencer; u Mothers Tea la the aft ernoon and a dance at night. Charlie Everett and Glen Luellyn went to Las Vegas to get a horse. The Lorenzo Griffins had Lewis and part of his family from Provo, Lois Reeves and family from Las Vegas, and Theodore Tuttle and family from Salt Lake. Marlene and Klynn Haws and daughter Patrice spent the long weekend in Las Vegas. Dee and Elda Haws had daughter Jeanie Stock and family from Gunnison. Linda and Bill Overall and family visited relatives In Colorado. Lana Livingston took her boys to Salt Lake. Iola and Brig Woolsey had business In Cedar City, so did Leah and Carrie Griffin, Judy Brooks and boys. Judy Griffin took Karen, Kacee and Karol Kelly to Wyoming for the wedding of Judy's sister, she left Karen and Kacee to spend the summer with their grandparents. Babs Neal and Leah Griffin went to Salt Lake City. The Vernon Griffins had a visit from Hazel's sister Lau-wana Muir and family from Venice. Vernon Dean Roundy and family of Monroe spent the weekend here. Daniel and Orilla Cowles, Margene Stowe and Thais Griffin went to Richfield. Nellie Bailey had Calvin and Martha Rae Schow and family home for the weekend. Wayne, Vennid and Harve Bailey were here from Salt Lake. Delia Christiansen, Alice Ann and boys were here from Las Vegas for the weekend. Jerry ana Rosalee Coleman and family of Kanab visited relatives here. Vernon Stowe had his brother Tex and family from Salt Lake. Newell and Dorthy Cowles and family of Richfield visited at the Daniel Cowles and the Calvin Shurtz homes. Also from Richfield came Ro-tis and Beth Coleman and family at the Lovell Twitchells. The Loyd Alveys had son Steve and wife Dianne here. Koleen Wayne met Chuck in Richfield and brought him home for the long weekend. Visitors from Kingston were Gene and Vio Sudweeks and LaRae Allen. Ethyl Pollock is home for the summer, son Gary brought her. lUlo and Leitie boy-ce had son Acel and family ot Ogden. Stan and Neta Haycock and daughter Jams went to Cedar to tne dentist. Loyd Gates is home and glad he is. Hoe and Clema Barney and family of Page spent the week end here. Voile and Lillian Munson visited relatives here. .Kay Gates and a brother-in-law came from Vernal long enough to get Kay's horse. LaKue Spencer had Linda and Charley Everett and baby here from Mesquite, Nev. Reo Roundy had Evan and Elsie from Salt Lake City. The Otto Roundys had Vernon Dean and family, Gene and Ren-on Reed and family from Monroe. The Morias Halls had Lila Jean McCurdy and family. Em-mett Porter had a visit from Dale Schow and wife. Viola Peterson came from Salt Lake with family members, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Chornah and daughter from Provo. Dean and Janis Glcdhill were home for the weekend. Melba Brooks sold her home on Main Street to Marjorie Griffin, The Petersons held a fam-ilyreunion at Calf Creek, some of the family members put on the program in the North Ward meeting; Lora Rushton and Verl Hardwick talked, the cousins three, Nlckl, Vickl and Gloria sang accompanied by Dawn Griffin, Rulon and Evan Peterson talked. The South Ward called on visitors in the audience, they were Sherwood Twitchell, Quince Alvey Kim and Evelyn Lay. The Charley Everetts had their son christened, Kenneth Spencer did the honors. Margaret Johnson was here from Salt Lake with daughter Ircta Haun. J.C. and Eva Haws of Brigham City and Ben haws from California, were here for the holiday. Mazel and Royal Alvey and wives were here. Ixxikcd like most of the family of Lafayette Alvey came, we talked to Percell who lives in Las Vegas. Nethella Woolsey had her sister Neta K. Shurtz. Sherman and Maud Spencer were at the Hyrum Colemans. Jessie Giles and daughter of Wayne County and Alton Church of Panguitch. The Gail Baileys had Bob and Sandra Porter, Dean and Elaine Shortz, Gloria and Mack Winkle home. The Chb Scoots of Den 2 landscaped the Elementary school and to protect them put a border of strawberries and cautioned everyone to have careful feet. They put a fence around financed by the sale of aluminum cans gathered from the citizens. So keep saving them. Joyce O'Neal is their leader, she is going to summer school so is resigning as Community School Director. The Elementary school library b going to be open several days a week this summer so watch for the time. The dead are decorated with flowers of every hue, they get much more attention than the living do. r |
