Show Therapy Grant Mrs. Melanie M. Olsen, daughter of the Clem McEwens of Pangultch. has received a grant of $1,000 from the Elks National Foundation for a course of study in Cerebral Palsy Therapy. Mrs. Olsen plans to attend San Francisco State Collegs. Her application was sponsored by Cedar City Lodge No. 1556 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Richard T. Brown. Exalted Ruler was notified of the grant by Nelson E. W. Stuart. Executive Director of the Foundation. The Elks National Foundation has current resources totalling more then $317,000,000. The income of nearly $600,, 000 yearly is used to finance a wide range of educational and benevolent activities, including grants to doctors, therapists, technicians, nurses and teachers for study of advanced techniques in the treatment and rehabilitation of cerebral palsied children. More t'-an 1700 Dersons have benefited from this program and approximately 150 grants are made each year. There Is still a great shortage of trained personnel. |
