It is time to think about getting Christmas trees; permits can be obtained from the Forest Service office any week day, there are four species to choose from. The sick are all better; Sandra Mae Lyman spent some time in the Panguitch hospital but is back to work. Maralda Porter came home leaving Whitey in the Salt Lake hospital for therapy treatments, she says he must be real busy and contented as he never takes time to write. He had a cup put in his hip socket and will be on crutches quite awhile but the doctors said he would walk a-gain normally. Marty Vadrene, son of Bill and Clorene. broke his foot and had to quit delivering papers, Vin Spencer took over the job. Missed some Thanksgiving news last week ; Clyde and Lil-lie Spencer and the McKay Baileys and family went to Delta where Venice and Tahr.-age Taylor have a big new home and entertained all of the fainilv except Jim and Ja net who spent it here with the Claron Griffins, and Caroline and Vergcne Porter. Mary Elen and Hyrum Coleman went to Duchesne and spent the holiday with Irene and Lewis Brown, then on to Salt Lake to visit Michael and Valeree Da-vies and that new baby, and the Herman Spencers, then down to Monroe to see Donna Rae Barker and family and Douglas Mclnelly. Earl and Nethella Woolsey spent a week in the Salt Lake area, they spent Thanksgiving with her sister Onetta Shurtz, visited Hal and family in Keanis, Klint and family in Layton. They attended two funeral services, the one for Ar-villa George Anderson and a grandson of Earl's brother. Parley, a young man of 24 who died of cancer, leaving a wife and two small children. They visited Nethella's granddaugh ter, Alayne Peterson and family, and called the Rest Home to enquire about her aunt Net Mortensen, she is 94 and fairly well for her years. When they got home they had Klint and iccntinued inside ESCALANTE 'continued daughter Mario here from Lay-ton. Wi- have two more of our boys sent to Vietnam; Ronald Schow and Mark Liston. Two families will have a merry Christmas Jim and Erma Gates and the Hode Alvcys got word that Kay and Boyd will be home from Germany in time for the holiday. Grant and Lo-retta Spencer went to Pan guitch to meet the bus and bring son Don home for a fur lough, he is stationed in Alaska. John Droubay had business in Richfield, so did Gurcna Ro binson, Lizzi Porter, and Fon and Starns Mecham; the Me-chams went to Cedar City for the christening of their new baby belonging to son Ron Lane Liston took a Magabar car over there for repairs Hazel Haycock and Kate Porter went to Salt Lake City. Molu and Dinah Christensen went on vacation to Las Vegas The high school team played their first practice game here with Wayne County and won by n small margin then many of the students and some townspeople went to Tropic to watch the game between Wayne and Bryce Valley. Students from the BYT presented a program here last week. The Karl Thurbcrs went to Ogden and traded their car for a Lincoln, they visited relatives in the area over the weekend. Elthere Alvey cele brated her birthday anniversary Dec. 3rd very quietly with family members, she is 83. Dicey Coombs had son Robbie liarkor and family here for Thanksgiving, then she went north with them to visit other relatives Anthony Coombs of Boulder took his father Eph to Panguitch on business. Lera Schow came from Salt Lake City and took his father Mike back for the winter There was , I temple excursion from here to St George last week , Johny Balsh and Ray Greenwood, carpenters from the Richfield area came in to build an equipment shed for the State Road machinery, Mr Greenwood got a better job so quit, and the local State Road men have been helping Mr Balsh. Lester Heaps is here vis Itlng at the Ron Schow home, his daughters Dixie Carter and Thclma Johnson came for the wedding reception, so did Danny and Lois Spencer |
