Kevin Porter is home from the hospital In Salt Lake City and gets around quite well on crutches. He and his parents, Caroline and Vergene wish to thank everyone for help rendered, for contributions and the many cards, letters and visits Weldo Woolsey was Involved In a serious accident in th-j Sa-llna area, he was coming from Wyoming and had a girl from theie with him, it was stormy and a truck hit them demolishing the car and Injuring the girl so seriously they would not try to p.itch her up at the local hospital? but rushed her Into Salt Lake City. They kept Weldo in the hospital 24 hours then Beth and Glover went for him Beryl and Retha Shurtz got word that son Carlyle was in the Cottonwood hospiU.1 very ill with complications of the mumps. lie seamed to be immune to the disease when a child but took them from his little boy. His folks here are keeping in touch by phone, Retha is trying to wear out the flu and Beryl is not sure he would not take the mumps. Those kid diseases on adults is mighty rough. Dale and Thelma Marsh went to Ogden for the funeral services of Dale's brother Lyle who passed away following a heart attack, and left a wife and two sons. He had recently retired as Lieutenant Col. from the National Guard. Don Coleman Is home from his job in Wyoming and his parents, the Parley Colemans came from Wayne County to accompany son Hyrum to the St. George Temple. Mary Ellen of course went and others from here were Don and Lillian, Dan and Vic kl, Leah Button, Dee and Elda Haws, Gwen and Randal Lyman, Ivan and Nelda Willis. Sha ron Dale and Shirley Marsh, and Pres. Chase Shurtz. The relatives who joined them from other places were Bessie and Ralph Thatcher, Fred and Fern Johnson, Gama and Lynn Mclnelly Joe and Donna Rae Barker planned to come but got sick. Geraldine Bailey Mun-son is Stake Relief Society President over that area and they met at meeting and had a good visit. The High School held their Sweetheart Ball, Janeen Alvev was crowned queen with Cindy Peterson and Debra Griffin attendants. Larry Norman was king with Jerry Mounteer and Terry Hall attendants. The last basketball game here was played with Bryce Valley and our boys kept up their record of losses. The Freshie Frolic took place after the game. A big percent of the High School went to Circleville to the Sophomore tournament. Donnetta Haycock came from Salt Lake City with a new car and Crystal Griffin. They visited the weekend then went bsck taking Ernie Griffin and Sariah Alvev. it was Clarices turn to stay home. Mother Al-vey went up to visit her cousin Amanda Chidester and to give moral support to granddaughter. Frankle Freeman who came to Salt Lake City from Ely. Nevada for surgery. Nell Barker Is home safely after visiting In Colorado, Salt Lake City and St. George. Vera and Millard Davis and Al- meda Haycock had business In Panguitch. Nancy Droubay and Koleen Griffin went to Richfield. Ron and Linda Mecham were in Farmlngton, New Mex lco and points In between. Gene Griffin took Thais to Panguitch for treatment at the hospital. Iris Porter and Leda Emery are here again, they commute between here and Salt Lake City trying to find the best weather conditions Minnie and Billle Davis had grandchildren Machelle. Alfred and Neil Foster here for the weekend, thev went back to Tropic with Ruth BaiiPh ,.hn was VtaMsM at the Blako Robinson home. A successful well attended PTA meeine we Sold Thursday, the 12th. at the Klemen-tary school under the direction of Caroline WlUlams. LaVern Lindsay gave a short talk on her duties as County nurse and told the things we can ask of her. The Cub Scouts of the North ward Den one under the direction of Judy Brooks and Wanda Lee presented the flag and led the group In the pledge of allegiance. An outstanding program was presented by students of the elementary school using every one from kindergarten through 6th. Of course that got the parents out to see their young hopefulls perform which they did very well. Dr. Kazan and LaVern Lindsay held baby clinic here, the dentist also came in to treat people painlessly. DUP meeting was held In the home last week with a good attendance and the lesson on the Irish converts to the church was given by Lola Zenz. Lola gets around well with only a slight limp. She got word that daughter-in-law Arlene had to be put back in tracton for her broken neck, the bones are not healing properly and she may have to have surgery. Renee and Berlin Osborn picked up daughter Bernice Gouldlng In Henrlevllle, went on to Cedar City where they were joined by son Kent and wife and went on to Mesa, Arizona where on St. Valentine's day they accompanied son David to the Mesa Temple where he exchanged wedding vows with Roberta Burch. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thurmsn Burch of Mesa Kent was best man and the wedding was followed by a reception in the 8th ward chapel. The newly weds will set up housekeeping near the Castle AFB where he is stationed and Merced where she Is finishing school to be- i come a denUl technician. Kent has been appointed hesd cook at the college In Cedar City. Sunday Sacrament meeting was held Jointly In the South ward and the program was put on by the Boy ScouU. Invocation was by Sheldon Steed, welcome and greetings by Sharon Dale Marsh. Talks were given by Brent Cottam, Glen Griffin, Kowe Hakes. Bishop Vernon Spencer. Song by Den 1 and 2, trumpet solo Stan Munson, benediction Wayne Pollock. The Air port Is almost finished and the Kelly con structlon co. have rroved their office out there. The present style of mini skirts on girls both fat and slim, give the fellows bird like eyes, they flit from limb to limb. |
