Show Tropic Topics BY ELLA ADAIR We were saddened by the sudden death of Hardy Smith on Sunday. He died from a heart attack at his summer cottage In Las Vegas. We all send our sympathy to his family and relatives. ArdeU, Ivor and Elaine Rlggs and Ramon Porter of Hatch were weekend visitors in town Ardetl spent a few days here this week picking apples. Judean Littlefield spent the weekend with her parents, the Norman Littlefields. Mr. and Mrs. Danny Shake-spear and daughters visited the E. R Shake spears on Sunday. Vertii Clarke and Lowell Me-cham were sustained as Sunday School teachers and Rella Alvey as 1st counselor in the Relief Society Margaret R. Mecham was released from the Relief Society and Carma Barton from Sunday School. Phyllis Stewart was sustained aa Primary teacher. Hazel and June Saunders, Mr. and Mrs. James and daughters, and the Gam L. Pollocks were weekend visitors at the Adrian Pollock home. The Pollocks son Jeffrey Gam was blessed and given his name In Sacrament meeting Sunday. The Ira Littlefields made a weekend trip to Hurricane. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie LeFevre accompanied their grandson Cornell Willis to the temple In St. George last Saturday. The James Munsons helped their son Scott and wife move to Logan this week. Scott will enroll In the school of Engineering there. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Johnson and the Loram Pollocks have moved to St. George for the winter. Arvilla Shakespear went to Dugway with her parents to attend a wedding reception of her nephew. One of Steve Duke's army buddiea visited last week with the Alston Shakespear. Silas Munson wu in the hospital for a medical checkup and testa. Afton Pollock Is home from the hospital and back in school. Saturday visitors in town were Oliver and Velma Hunt ington of Hatch ; the Leo Bartons of St. George. The post masters from Cedar City, Panguitch, Hatch and Escalante were here for the dedication of the new post office. Minerva Dutton is visiting her son and family in Richfield. Mr. and Mrs. John Allen visited with the Ellis Aliens for the weekend. Ruth Pollock attended her brother's funeral in Kanab. their mother Louisa Mangum who is in the LDS hospital. Visitors st the Irving Johnsons were Dixie Munson and daughter, Darr Johnson and son. Anils and Klmberly Ev-ana. The Arnell Burrs visited at the Bert Stock home. ' The LaMond Davis family visited at the Sherman Davis home Paulette Wlesman. Bevarly and Guy Thompson visited at the George Thompson home. Ada and Harry Roae of Mil-Ford stayed overnight with Joe and me and we visited In Hen rievllle with his brothers and other friends. Our missionary dinner wu a huge success Saturday night with people from Tropic and HenrievlUe Joining In on the festivities Ted and Annabclle Palmer and small daughter spent two days visiting her parents, the Clele Fletchers. John Palmer left Saturday for a visit with his sisters and brothers He left with Faye Ott and will stay a couple of days with her and then a couple of days with Eldon In Bsb bitt before going on to Calif. Tonya and Fred Syrett visited at I he Doyle Clarka. Mae Twitchell is having a birthday this week and the Joe Hughes are having an an niversary Gloria Clark and 1 took John Palmer to Escalante for a medical appointment. Word wu received of the death of Hardy Smith of Lu Vegas. We deeply sympathize with his wife and family and his mother Virginia and his brother and sisters. Julia Hall and son Bob Hlg bee visited with Rschel Thompson, Bob is serving with the Nsvy. Don Mangum spent the week end in Salt Lake with his wife Louise. He says she's really getting along fine, and will be able to leave the hospital Tuesday and will stay in Mldvale with a cousin. George Thompson went to Salt Lake on buslneu. Myrtle and Angus Baldwin attended funeral services for a brother-in-law Art Glover, they really are having the sad trouble, first her brother snd next a brother-in-law. Word wu received of the marriage of Eldon Palmer at the St. George Temple. I understand his wife's name Is Helen. Fern Henderson is home to stay, she's been staying in Escalante with Golds. It's good to have her home again. |
