Show MANTUA PIONEER DIES SUDDENLY while in the act of partaking ot of his thanksgiving dinner yesterday shortly after the noon hour the land hand of death was laid upon nels anderson jeppson pioneer ot of T mantua arid and almost before beloro his aged wife and son who was summoned realized that anything was wrong the aged man had go gone I 1 I 1 e to his fl final nal rest mr jeppson was in this city on wednesday enjoying his usual good health he arose thursday morning and I 1 went about abou t his chores as usual and when dinner time came lie he sat up to the table but had hardly begun eating when he was stricken extending his arm to his wife mr jeppson was helped to a couch and in a few iiii minutes was dead without a struggle mr jeppson was born at monge alonge fredericksburg Fred ericksberg Denni denmark ark dec 1833 1835 he came to america in ill 1861 locating in brigham city shortly alter after he removed to bear river city but later returned and located in mantua where lie he has since resided arid and part participated in the activities ot of that community rig right lit up to the last for many years vears lie he had charge of the ward choir and I 1 at one time was invited to sing before president brigham young ile he was a devoted man to his religion and labored until the last in the ward bard organizations and as a ward teacher mr jeppson served as president of tile the mantua livestock company for many years and was the road supervisor in that precinct tor for a long time through his generosity tile the mantua town has its present cemetery on oil the brow of the hill overlooking checan the canyon arid and valley as that ground aground was part of the original homestead of mr air jeppson and he donated tile the site to the ward for cemetery purposes mr air jeppson was married three times two of his wives having died many years ago his present wife he married forty five years ago ile he was the father of seven children three chree ot it whom preceded him to the other life the rhe surviving children are mrs airs hannah nah hunsaker ot of this city mrs cliris christena keller of mantua nels A jeppson jr of arco idaho and adolph jeppson of mantua there are also 24 grand children and 28 great grand children funeral services will be held in the mantua chapel saturday afternoon at 1 under the direction ot of bishop conrad jeppson |
