Show Outdoor Sportsmen Spend Billions On Hunting And Fishing Sportsmen in 1965 spent more than four billion dollars on hunting and fishing, accord inglto the National Survey of Fishing and Hunting released by -the Bureau of Sport Fish-cries and Wildlife. The survey showed more than 33 million persons, 12 years of age or older, participated In hunting and fishing during 1065 on an active basis. This included 28 million who fished, almost 14 million who hunted and oVcr 9 million who did both. Hunters and fishermen spent 709 million recreation days on these sports and traveled 31 billion passenger miles to do so The survey also reported that more than 8 million Americans spent money or traveled specifically to watch birds and other wildlife.
