She fell over some tires in the basement of their home and knocked her out, breaking a blood vessel in the one leg; Doyle found her in that shape and it scared him out of ten years growth. We got word that our son-in-law, Sherman Bundrant; of Richland, Washington had undergone serious back surgery, ReNae said she would call if he did not come along ok so we figure no news is good news. Earl Woolsey returned from Green Rtyer with a five-point buck which, after a week's hunting in the mountains, he found in his son-in-law's watermelon field. Daniel and Orilla Cowles and the Glen Imlays went to Salt-Lake for the funeral services of Orilla's brother, Alon-zo Liston who has been ill for some time. They called at Pro-vo to see Don and Hazel Liston and their son Russel told them they were both in the U-tah Valley hospital; Hazel in critical condition and Don very ill. Sariah Alvey came home with them, she had gone north with son Ray L. to attend funeral services of the infant son of the Ronald Freemans. The Circle D Steak House is closed and has a lease sign on it. Things are pretty dead in general. Of course this road is about to start and that will (continued Inside) ESCALANTE (continued) help. Douglas Haycock has moved his trailer house from Cedar City on to the Alvey Trailer park in the south east corner of town (I do not dare call it the horse correll again). Missed last week the visit of LaFay Coleman and daughters of Salt Lake. Alburn Griffin had all of his family here, we had Delane last week, Lynn and Judy came, Bill and Vaughn Richens, Floy Mitchell, Ted Murdock, and the nephews Harold Griffin and family, and Gerald, all from the Salt Lake area. Lon and Evelyn Heaps were also here. Vaunda Wilson, the student teacher is back for the remainder of her training under Mar-jie Spencer. The Hyrum Cole-mans had a visit from Max and Cleva Swindle, five kids and a fancy poodle from Calif. The Rol Porters had grandkids, De-loa and Gerald Thompson here for the weekend; they, accompanied by Al Porter, went to Cedar City for the funeral services of Cora Riddle Porter, yes she passed way. Elda Haws was another we heard of going for the services. Stake quarterly conference was held in Tropic as planned, and a big per cent of the population from here attended and said it was the best ever. Stams Mecham took Faun to Provo for more surgery, Jay Porter went up as his father Lee is quite ill. While Mother Alvey was north she visited with Mabel Haycock, Harve Bailey, Ken and Nedra Tucker of Morgan. Lawana Pratt is home from her summer job and took her father, Phllo, sister Hazel Griffin and Aunt Eliza Mclnelly to Panguitch for medical checkups. Dawn Griffin took some of her youngsters to the bone specialist. Max and Barbara Labrcre sold their worldly possesions, locked up their little house on the creek banks and left for Calif. Layton and Larue Grif- fin spent a wonderful summer at Zions National Park, he as night watchman and she as supervisor of the cabin maids and part time clerk in the curio shop. The PTA put on a Halloween carnival for the Elementary school Saturday night which was very successful. June Liston has been in Salt Lake with her father, Er-rol Dowdell who is ill, then she got word that a sister in Las Vegas had been injured so she went there. Holbert and Bonnie Smith of Cedar City were here for the weekend. Halloween is over, so's the hunting season, spooks and deer are both worn out, what can be the reason? |
