Show FREIGHT RATES KATES MUST COME DOWN BOWS the declaration made by P C gill chairman of the transport transportation atlon committee of the salt lake commercial club at the big business mens luncheon last evening in the commercial f club rooms that brigham city Is just as vitally interested in a reduction ot of the excessive freight rates as any other part ot of the intermountain inter mountain west must be apparent to everyone this section depends upon its U hor and agricultural products fo for r sustenance and in as much as the greater portion of these products must be sold on oil the foreign markets the matter ot of freight rates ent enters ersInto into the production as one ot of the palm primary ry factors in determining the value ot of the crop to the producer it if the present freight rates ane ana discriminatory against this section section of the country and every sane man who knows knovis anything about them knows that they are then local producers are being prevented from entering into competition with ohp rest of the country on the open markets for the eason reason r that when our products arrive at the markets the high freight rates have made our goods cost more mom and very naturally they dont sell as readily the invitation extended by mr gill to join with all the 04 other forces of th estate and intermountain inter mountain nest anest as crystallized in the organization known as the intermediate ate rata association should be heartily accepted by every institution ot of a civil commercial social or religious character in this part ot of the state in order that the great force which Is 18 dealing dealine a death blow to these very institutions maybe may be destroyed all that Is demanded Is a fair deal in the granting to tho the states a freight rate that Is equally just with that in effect in other parts of tho the country more than this we could hardly ask tor for but this much w we e can and should demand |
