Hyrum Coleman, Morias Hall Parley Pratt!, Lane Liston and Free ,man Alvey went to .work there Dena Alvey is in the Panguitch hospital recovering from ,a major, operation, Wanles and Clorene have made several trips to visit her and report her getting along fairly well. Bish Schow was taken over and hospitalized by son Ronald, and Arnold and Zel-la Alvey, they figured they could have him. better and jhome in .several days, his daughters, Leda Emery and 6ma Jemison, Tom and Muriel Davenport and Gail and Marine Alvey came from alt Lake to visit him in Pan-guitch and their mother here. The McKay Baileys are the proud parents of a new son who has a good start, weighed over nine pounds. The Paul Steeds have another boy, number five, Paul will soon have a mill crew of his own. In talking with Marie Hall found they have two new granddaughters born .to Mar-Jlla and Sliirlene. Marie Is tending Louise Llston's baby while she teaches school. Daniel and Orllla Cowles went to Salt Lake for her to have a checkup, Eva Spencer accompanied them as far as Provo where she stayed with Patsy's children while she attended singing practices and Stake quarterly conference. Usher went up for the weekend and brought her home, They reported Lorln and Mel-!etta Cottam ready to come home as soon as Meletta had another checkup. Polly Spencer went from Las Vegas W Boise, Idaho, to attend the Testimonial of her grandson, Dudley's boy Donnle who is going to the Central British mission, she will visit there .then go to St. George and (stay until summer weather, then come home. Strange fthlngs happen to our people In St. George, Bell Chiisten-isen became Mrs. Wren Roundy and there were rumors of other romances. Bruce Wilson was here on leave after spending three years in Casa Blanca In the Service,- he Is being transferred to Kansas. The Lovell Twitchels had company, his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Llge Morel of Loa, and their children, Deann and Scrib Gllllos and family from Pangultch. Lovell and Martha went to Pangultch to. get his driver's license renewed. Those we heard of going to Panguitch for medical checkups were Wallace and Ella Roundy accompanied b y Maud Reynolds, Lorin, Bes-Bie, and Layton Griffin, Nel-da and Allie Spencer, Veda Mitchell, Phyllis Alvey, and Judy Kelly, Gordon and Amy Stevens of Cedar City were (visiting friends here. Devoe Scbwville and son were visitors at the Beumont Griffins. Rol Porter took his granddaughter Deloa to Richfield where her mother Marie Griffin met her taking her on to Provo. On the way home Rol had . a flat" tire and no way to fix it. He already had troubles enough in the form of a badly sunburned Jiose. A kind passer-by helped him change tires. Dee Haws and Blake-Robinson went to Phoenix to the races, Dee put his horse in a $2500 claim race and some fellow claimed him, Elda said he was one sick man as he had turned down $3500 for him. Gurena Robinson and daughter Beth went to Richfield for dental appointments then on to Koosharem for a homecoming. The Sophomore basketball tournament was held here last weekend with jsix schools participating: Ka-nab," Valley, Panguitch, Monroe, Bryce Valley, and Escalante. Kanab walked off with the trophy. Lowell Willis was named the outstanding player from here. Mary Ellen Coleman had her sisters Dollie Mulford of Torrey and Nora Youndaleof Bountiful for a two day visit. jClaron Griffin took the South ward deacons, Kent Osborn, Leland -Deuel, Steven and Jim Alvey, Bobbie and Marlon Spencer, Darrel Munson and Blaine Lyman to Glen Canyon Dam and the movie location, the boys reported having had a wonderful time and liked everything about it except that twisty Cottonwood Road. Mont and Ethyl Griffin accompanied by the Harmon Shakespears of Tropic made the same tour, others we heard of going were Clarice and Ernie Griffin and the Stanley Haycocks. My folks, Mother, Kay and Emma came from Little's Ranch to help quilt a quilt that Mother spent all winter cording the wool batts for, they had to leave hero early to feed the chickens, so Mother Alvey, Erma Gates, Clarice Griffin, Martha Twitch-bll and Maud Reynolds helped m e get It finished. It Is a belated wedding gift for our youngest brother Nells. The Starns Mechams here got word that .son Ronald and Russel Wilson had met in Birmingham, Alabama. Doug (Continued On Back Page) ESCALANTE (continued) and Norene Calvert made a weekend trip to Beaver. Millie and James Mclnelly and Bernard and Ora Schow were here from Page. The only college students we noticed were Carlyle Shurtz and wife and Boyd Alvey. Ray Shurtz has been losing sheep, he did not know whether it was wolves or coyotes takng them, he caught tho H.wo thieves and still could not decide which it was. Jennings and Mildred Allen were here for the weekend and Jennings can talk as fast as ever, he even outtalkcd Sa-riah Alvey and myself. Wesley Hamilton did no get into the army on account of a defective eye, but he. did get a job In a filling station in Salt Lake. Folks would do well to keep aspirins out of reach of tiny tots, Dr. Poulscn has treated three cases of small children taking too many aspirin. Charley and Rao Fyn-tan and Dick and Hazel Mor-man made a business trip to Panguitch. Sunday was High Priests day, the North ward listened to Truman Lyman, Malen Mecham and Lorell Munson, Ni-cki Griffin sang accompanied by her mother Dawn. In the South ward Marion Clark and June Nelson did the talk- 1 in'g, they seem very sensitive about what is in the Chit Chat, there never has been any harm meant but it shows they read the paper. Relatives here of Lora Rushton report that her son Dennis who has been unconscious so long is slightly improved, they also reported that the Roy Hardwicks havo a new granddaughter born to daughter Carol Harlan. Douglas and Jeanie Mclnelly brought Lynn Mclnelly home on his last lap from the army, he visited in Monroe with them and his sisters, Donna Rae Barker and Clevia Swindle, he also visited in Fresno, Calif, with his step-grandmother Clevia Mclnelly, he reports her in fair health and good spirits. A budding romance is beautiful, they're apt to occur in the Spring, there is one major drawback, the bloomin expense of the thing. |
