They are finished there now and, will be in the Panguitch area. The oil rigs have all ceased and the pessimists are afraid this will be a ghost town with mighty skinny ghosts; the optimists look for industry tore-commence shorty. Allen Pollock made it home from the hospital and Lavina says he seems to feel fine. Sadie Thornton spent several days there for a complete rest. Nurse Mary Ann Senetra accompanied Ivan to take her over, it was a stormy night and Mary Ann used strong language " describing the wea-ther and road conditions. Ka-therine Coleman stayed with the four Thornton youngsters on Daddy's long night out. The Berlin Osborns and the Claron Barneys are proud grandparents to a little girl born to Mack and Jo in the Panguitch hospital. Reed and Wilmirth Wooley went on va- " cation to New Mexico to visit daughter Marva and family; Reed left Bernard Schow with the cop's badge and responsibility to keep things under control. The snow storm dampened the enthusiasm of the cleanup crews and kept them from meeting the deadline set at Saturday 13th. Hulda Spencer started with a nose bleed at the home of son Barton Deuel. They could not control it so went to Nelda Willis and Mary Ann Senetra whose combined efforts were in vain, so they took her to the hospital where they finally got it stopped. She went to visit I son Osmyn in Hatch for awhile I then will return here for the party March 20th. Everything is under way for a good time. Chairmen on the food committee are Billie and Minnie Davis, Gail and Reva Bailey, they have planned a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings. The program committee is Louise and June Lis-ton, Thais Griffin and LaFaye ' Bailey who are pfenning an entertainment with song and ' dance. Darwin Barker celebrated his birthday anniversary with the help of parents Hal and Myrna and two sets of grandparents. Theo Barker has taken such good care of his chickens this winter his hens either lay two eggs a day or a double yolked one. DUP meeting was held on Thursday with only nine present. We expected the County officers and want them to know they missed a good lesson and lunch. Vice Captain Dicey Coombs conducted in the absence, of Captain Renee Os-born who was in Panguitch with daughter' Jo and new baby. Lenora Griffin did the fireing so it was plenty warm. Nethella Woolsey read part of the life history of her father, John King. Vernon Dean Roundy met his sister Renon Reed and small daughter in Salt. Lake and brought them here for a visit. Neal and Alberta Liston made a business trip to Richfield where Alberta Joined Ne-ta Haycock and Clarice Griffin and went to Salina to a meeting pertaining to the school lunch. Dixie Mitchell had a phone call from her brother Gary Chestnut from Hawaii, he had been sent there for a rest period after being in Viet Nam. The Sox Spencers have daughter Ef fie Kay Wright and small daughter from Texas; another of their daughters, Cara Mon Smith is home after touring Colorado and Wyoming, Joe Murray brought her home. Karl Lee and Bob Carlson went to Grand Junction, Colorado on business. Bob bragged on the food they had but did not think much of the road condo-tions, and Karl's driving kept him awake. Bob and Alton Leibenguth look like twins since Afton became a brunette. Everetta Crofts and daughter Julie of Orderville were Sunday visitors here. Seemed good to visit with Everetta, it was our first since we graduated together from the old Val-(continued inside J ESCALANTE (continued) ley High. Coach Phillips took the local Sophomore ball team to Orderville for the tournament where they won a game, and Kent Griffin, son of Wil-ford, won an outstanding a-ward. Delia King and daughter Char Paula Christiansen came from Cedar City for the weekend. June Liston made a business trip to Salt Lake, when she returned to take care of the Post Office, Wayne Barney took a much needed vacation to Pro-vo. The parcel post and letters have been unusually heavy this winter, lone accompanied him. Johnny Thompson and Don White are in and out of town every few days. Gail and Reva Bailey went to Mesa.Amona, their daughter Gloria and her cousin Nicki Griffin accompanied them. The Valley Finance officials, Billle Davis and Blake Robinson went to Cedar City for a meeting, their wives accompanied them and had dinner at the Reed Thompson home. Ronald Mecham and wife brought his mother Faun home the weekend. Francis and Barbara Imlay have bought and are moving into the home formerly owned by Bobby Pratt, some oil well people bought it but have left the country. Some of our young folks and some not so young ones went to Boulder for their Gold and Green Ball Saturday night, the storm scared most of us out, one of our town orchestras furnished the music. Billle and Minnie Davis went to Salt Lake on business, they took James and Sariah Al-vey and their son Ray L- Alvey came from Roy and took them there to visit, they also went to Morgan and saw Albert Gledhill who was too weak to visit. Dr. Lars Peterson of Spanish Fork came to Roy to visit, and for their 57th wedding anniversary March 12th, the relatives in that area came to spend the evening. mm mm m mm mm mm sta mm m mm mm Jane Woolsey had a phone call from son Alvey Sherman in Calif., his health is not any better, and now his wife Lar-etta has developed an ailment that puzzles the doctors. Their son Eugene had entered the Service and is stationed in Louisiana. The Arthur Mclnel-lys had a weekend vsit from Sherril and Mary Davis and three boys of Cedar City. Gu-rena Robinson has improved enough that she is caring for her small granddaughter while Ruth and Mate Baugh took a trip. Mary R. Mclnelly has taken to travel by air, she flew to Vancouver, Washington March 1, in one and one-half hours. Her grandson Mack Hall works for the airlines and came to fly with her. She will visit there with daughter Nedra Hall and family until a big . bowling tournament when her four daughters and Frank's wife will all be there to compete. Nedra promised to take her to visit Annie Alvey Lay.
