George Spencer is still up North and the reports are no better, Lil-lie Spencer had the operation as scheduled and was permitted to leave the hospital and go to the Talmage Taylor home but has to go back each day to have her incision dress, ed, Clyde spends part of his time over there. Cara Mon Smith is in the hospital In quite bad shape, Shirley Spencer took her over to the doctor but he was leaving town so just gave her medicine and she came home, Clara McMul-len took care of her but she gradually got worse so she is hospitalized for several days. Chase ShurU went back to work wearing colored glasses. Thelma Cottam took her son Myron to Panguitch for a complete medical checkup, lie was not at serious as she had feared, he was rundown after the flu; we went with Thelma to get Dot's nose fix-ed that she broKe trying to tumble, folks won't believe that It was broken because Dr. Duggins did not put it in a cast. Had to go to Panguitch to find that Uve population of Kscalante had increased two persons, a girl born to tho Larry Chyuoweths, and a son born to the John Strangs. Talked to the Dave Quilt rs who have just returned from an extended visit to Callfor-nla; also talked with Oilas and Estella IUggs. Here we thought that Veres Griffin was too weak to get out much, and she and Beumont went to Salt Lake and stayed until the water was finished and they could have a drink. Lola Zenz started to Richfield to get her bade fixed but when she got as far as Panguitch it felt better so she came home, but finally had to give up and go have it put back in place. The Hyrum Colemans went to1 Panguitch for Mary Ellen to have a medical checkup. Bish Schow Is so much better that he Is able to chop wood, of course ho don't chop tho. whole pile at one standing. Lovell and Martha Twitch-ell came from Richfield for the weekend and stayed at the Lorell Munson home, they brought Craig and DeAnn and took only Craig back, De Ann stayed with her pal Lillian Coleman. June Llston made a trip to Henderson, Nevada to visit her sister Maur-ine Goff who has been ill for some time, they brought her back to Panguitch to stay with her mother and be under the care of Dr. Duggins; June would like to find a way over to visit her occasionally if some one is going over and back the same day. June's daughter Lana entertained the Ball boys and some of the girls at a chicken supper last week. When Cliff Reynolds went to Richfield for eye ex-amination he could not get away from Monroe without his small grandson to brought him home, then the boy's parents, the Duane Barneys had to come and get him. Lark Reynolds also visited here. The Walter Lelbenguths have their daughter Marie home for awhile, she has been going to school in Salt Lake City. Port Riddle of Hen-rievllle came to talk over old times with Joe Pollock. Tho Randall Lynutns have daughter Rose Mary Palmer and small son home. Flora Marchant Is back with her father William Mitchell after taking a trip to California with her husband. Mae Venn Taylor and Eva Dean Liston and families went to Glen Canyon to visit Holbert Smith -took his wife, Rhoda Davis and Almeda Haycock" to Richfield to visit at the Vernon Davis home. Blllie Davis and Blake Robinson made a business trip Jo Richfield then decided that they had more business North so extended It Bill Griffin came home for' weekend and spent part of it being checked by his doctor in Pangultch. Some of the Stake officers, Pres. J. Clyde Spencer, Dee Haws; Dale Marsh, Nelda Willis and Fay Alvey went to Richfield Sunday for a Regional Welfare meeting. The speakers in Sacrament meeting Sunday were. North ward, Dar Smith, Ira Littlef leld and Marion Clark; in the South, the Scouts took over the program with talks by Earl Jol-ley, Qulnn Griffin, son of De-lane, Lynn Schow, son of Ronald, Lowell Willis, son of Ivan, Kent Osborn, son, of Berlin; Qulnn sang a song alone accompanlng himself on the guitar, and there were two songs by the Cub Scouts of both wards under the direction of Joyce Lyman. The Ray Adairs were here from Wayne County for the weekend. The Stake MIA held a Kitchen Karnlval in the .South ward church last week, the MIA Maids and Exporers made sandwiches and punch and decorated cakes to their hearts content Some of the college kids from the CSU were Douglas Haycock, Kay Gates, Elma Mcclnelly, Tony Reynolds and Arvonne Alvey. The Phillips Oil Co, that drilled here at Hell's Backbone last summer have moved from Green River to Russellville, Arkansas, taking along two of our local girls: Joyce Twitchell, daughter of Lovell, and our daughter LaVee. Bell Christensen left St George for a week's visit in Kanab with her daughter Shirlee Pratt and family, Joanna Barker is holding down her apartment until she returns.
